I believe that it is public information that the contractual obligations will include conditions designed to make it less easy for another club to lure the next incumbent away. The idea is that the recruit will be expected to commit to bring “the project” to its conclusion.
In the end all it means is that it will probably require more compensation to secure the release of the next manager than was needed to buy out Moore, McCann etc.
When it comes to assessing the potential of applicants, the sound recruitment process will operate and should deliver a competent person. Someone who has already done the job more than once could be suitable and is more likely to be known and all our recent managers (apart from AB) have had one (or two in Fergie’s case) previous appointments. Could that be a likely profile I wonder?
Living over here, I've no idea who is available, and do not know many of the names people have mentioned.
Obviously we would like someone who has had experience getting out of League One, but most of them have probably also suffered relegation.
Whoever we hire has to commit to more than one and a half years - unless he or she is fired! Sorry, over here one needs to be gender neutral.

Thanks Nookie. I think SOD and ROK were the right people at the right time for Rovers. It's interesting that SOD is named in the SkyBet list as a potential but I can't see it happening. The end, when it came, was contentious as I remember.
John Terry is an intriguing name, if he wanted to make his first foray into management here. He was probably one of the greatest club captains of all time. He's played under some of the greatest managers in the game and is currently learning under Dean Smith and ROK at Villa. Maybe he would prefer to wait for a bigger club though, especially having seen Steven Gerrard's success at Rangers. Other than that, Jimmy FH, Richie Wellens or possiy Paul Tisdale, but I don't know too much about him or his teams' style of play.
