Ole vs Mourinho

In 302 games from Moyes to Mourinho, we managed to score score 5+ goals in a game just twice.

We’ve done it 9 times now in 144 games under Ole.

.....

One of them was with Moyes in the CL I believe.

That certainly shows that this team is capable of playing some fantastic football on their day but they need to become more consistent in taking charge of matches early on instead of coming from behind to win so often. While I do enjoy a good comeback, going into half-time with a 2-0 or 3-0 lead more often would allow Ole to rotate players more and give the likes of Donny more minutes.

It's a work in progress but we have reason to be optimistic about where this team is going.

Our poor shot on target to goal ratio compared to Man City is the difference this season. Man City won many away tight games where they only had a few shots on goal but we failed to score in a lot of them when we had enough chances to win.

Progress I guess

Need to tighten up more at the back and learn better game management. With a few additions we can reach the next level

I'm not Wahl.

My intention was to show that Ole has done very well for someone still learning his trade at this level. I wouldn't want Mourinho anywhere near this club again despite his superior record.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

His record is very slightly better. This isn’t good on Jose.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
No, it isn't but my main gripe about Mourinho was the quality of football and the negative aura that permeated the club during his time in charge. The football under Ole isn't always free flowing, but it is certainly more entertaining than it ever was under LVG or Mourinho. For the first time since SAF retired, I look forward to watching United play which was never the case with the other two.

Imagine if we converted our chances or were more positive in our approach, turning those 10 draws to wins

I think Ole will add more firepower over the summer

We had enough chances to win in those 0-0 draws and even 2-2 1-1 and 3-3 draws. Those are the fine margins between title winners and not. No good winning 9-0 against Southampton but failing to beat Everton at home when you are completely dominant. If we spread those goals out against in those draws at Anfield, Stamford Bridge, Selhurst Park, Elland Road, Emirates etc, we would be in the title race.

Couldn’t agree more hafi, we should have won every single game 35-0.

Shot conversion might improve as Greenwood gains experience. He has an uncanny ability to get shots on target with most of his attempts and the more you work the keeper, the more chance you have of scoring goals. Greenwood is quite similar to how Ole as a player also seemed to get many of his shots on target.

Man City had 89 shots on target away from home this season but scored 34 goals in 17 games while Man Utd had 94 shots on target away from home this season but scored 30 goals in 17 away games. Man City gained 5 more points away from home and the 7 draws we had, I think at least 4 of them should have been wins.

We were negative v Arsenal and City though at OT. Set up not to lose rather than win

Also how do you explain that inexplicable loss to Sheffield ffs?!

Once we assemble a team with a consistent winning mentality, full of leaders and a lot more positivity from Ole then we'll be contesting for the league.

Yea but City tend to play their way into better positions, whereas Rashford and Fernandes love a 35 yard pot shot down the throat of the GK.

Hafi you've said this exact same thing for the past 6 years, have a look yourself. If Burnley converted all their chances they'd be top of the table. If Lazio converted all their chances over the past 6 years they would have won the CL. You're 6 year argument is applicable to every single football team ever. You should move on

Hi Fergies Chewing Gum. You don't happen to own a string of properties across Manchester and sack people on Zoom calls, do you?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No, I haven't had the pleasure. I only own property in Malta and I prefer Skype and Microsoft Teams.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fair enough, you can't be Culer then, as he owns a property empire in Gibraltar and conducts business by Zoom.

Completely different origin story.

I really doubt that Culer would have opened an account 9 years ago and left it dormant in case he'd need that account years later after being banned.

Using stats the way you have done is stupid, especially when making comparisons to Fergie.

The standard of dross on this board these days is something else.

posted on 1/5/21

Plump the Sheffield United loss was due to refereeing errors. They scored an illegal goal while we had a perfectly good goal disallowed and even the people in charge of refs said the same thing that we should have won.

I provided these stats as a comparison to Mourinho as indicated in the post title. Ferguson being included in the list of managers with highest winning percentages doesn't mean that I was trying to make a direct comparison between Ole and SAF, just as I wasn't making a direct comparison between Ole and Mangnall.

And if anyone chooses to make a comparison between Ole and Ferguson, they are quite welcome to do so. There's no harm in it.
