Only really makes sense if we were looking to offload De Gea.
I can't see why Johnstone would want to go from being a first choice PL GK to sitting on our bench though.
There's a chance we have a vacancy for second choice next season...
I 'm sure he would like the salary... no !
Johnstone may also think he'd have a chance of getting the No1 position as well against Henderson. Much easier doing that than against a keeper that has established himself for a decade.

He's 28 though, Surely he would rather be number 1 at West Brom, But I'll support him, If we get him in the summer.

Extra £££ and a shot at a playing for his boyhood club... I can see why some player might choose the other route but it's not black and white.
Didn't he used to be on our books as a youth?

My thinking is he may see this as a last chance to play for his boyhood club, he'll get a payrise and he may fancy himself against Henderson for No1.
Even if he stayed a couple of years I reckon he'd still get at least 20/30 games and would still be able to get a good club when he turns 30. Still a long career ahead.
He’s a good keeper.
Don’t see why would he would leave even a Championship club to come here and be 3rd choice unless it’s for a pay rise.
He would effectively but putting his career on hold or even ending it.
If DDG is offloaded I don't see why not. Johnstone would not be number 1 but would get game time in Cup competitions and cover for injuries.
