I'll be very surprised if our intensity doesn't drop, even if we do field our strongest line up in some games. I suppose it's a fine balancing act between resting players whilst also trying to maintain match sharpness for the EL final. Another issue is that if players go through the motions it may actually put them at more risk of injury.
I wonder what time we will be gifted our first penalty tonight.

I guess the number of fringe players involved could impact the intensity. They will be keen to impress, maybe work their way into a chance of getting some minutes in the EL final / stake a claim for the next season.
Just hope slabs is back for the final, be a real shame for him to miss out

Yep. We haven't heard any news on the injury so far, have we?

Inside the first pen minutes
regardless what people say Maguire is comfortably our best defender.
reminds me very much of steve Bruce, not the quickest but gets his body in the way, decent in the air and will put his head in where the boots are flying.
we just need to find the 2021 gary pallister to compliment him
Would like to see the likes of Williams, Axel, Amad, VDB get some proper game time in the last few matches. Not just short cameos off the bench.

Absolutely, and never gets injured (I would have said 72 hours ago)
its no good just dropping players and giving the fringe players the majority of game time.
the "first 11" still need minutes between now and the final..ole has to find that balancing act

If there's doubts about Maguire's chances of making the final, it would make sense to play the back-up pairing consistently in the remaining league games. With the possible exception of playing both Leicester and Liverpool - that would be tempting fate with Bailly, wouldn't it?

Epistemologically speaking, no news is the absence of both bad news (which is potentially good) and of good news (which is potentially bad).
I think with the EL final, Euros and holidays to come a lot of players will naturally switch off for these last 4 games. Second would be nice but I'm not too concerned if we don't get it, but it is important that the players who are going to play the final are in good shape for it. Villarreal are currently 7th which I think is the last EL spot so they are probably still going to try with their remaining 3 league games although they are 5 points above 8th.
Yes, the likelihood would be that Bailly would not only injure himself but his defensive partner too in some Chuck Norris style last ditch clearance

Interesting. I just looked up the permutations in La Liga. Villarreal as you say need four points to guarantee 7th, though if they could catch Real Betis (two points ahead in 6th) they would avoid the Europa League qualifying rounds. So they do have something to play for. That said, I guess for a club of Villarreal's stature, EL qualification next season would be a much smaller prize than winning a first ever European trophy (and getting into the CL). My hunch is that they will prioritise the latter, just as most of us (apart from Culer and his pretend title aspirations) would take 3rd place and the EL over 2nd and a loss in the final if we had to choose one.

Could we park his treatment table on the goal line?
"or we might see United playing with the kind of freedom of a side that no longer faces the jeopardy of relegation."
Yes, I think that will relax the tension somewhat.
I read "We're like a mid-table side" and though this was going to be another diddums article.
I see Red Russian has started with the click-bait headlines now to get more people to comment on his well thought out articles.
