I’d rather have Greenwood against Liverpool.

Applause. Well done lads. Sure, it’s lacking quality. Think there are a lot of nerves out there.
Elanga makes runs, but then when he gets the ball plays safe.
Williams and Bailly with some brain dead passes at times. Mata can’t get into it, same as Donny.
I’m sure they are trying to give DeGea a heart attack with some of those back passes.
But I’m not slating them, obviously their first outing, just being critical at this level.
Matic easily our best player.

I thought Brandon’s done OK.

Well, he got away with one, he had his hands on his head when he passed it to DeGea. Defensively he’s done ok.

Not sure if its been mentioned by anyone, but a man has been arrested for assaulting the police officer at the protest last Sunday. The police officer suffered a slashed face and broken eye socket.

The man arrested is from The Wirral, Merseyside.

Doing pretty well to be level at HT all things considered.

When you make as many changes as we have, it's not a surprise we look so disjointed, especially when so many of these players have barely played much or any senior football.

You can see him going, not playing apart from 10 minutes of extra time in a knockout round, then missing the penalty that puts us out and becomes the nation’s scapegoat and booed for years.

I don't give a s**t about england or euros. Hope he rests up during off season and start firing from start next season.

Enjoyed getting a look at fringe / young players without the result mattering too much. First half hot takes:

- Matic has been key to any semblance of control we have had. Even if we buy a long term successor this summer, I'd keep him as there's no one else in the squad who can come on and calm things down the way he does.
- Hate to say so, but it really is the end for Mata
- Amad looks further along in his development than Elanga, though it would be nice to see midfielders releasing him with a ball in behind once in a while. Amad's composure has impressed me in his cameos. No panic in the lead up to the goal. Easy to focus on protecting the ball and hesitate too long to pass into Greenwood's path. Easy to over or under hit the pass when it's your first attack in your full debut.
- Greenwood looks like he knows he's a senior player among this group and prepared to show leadership.
- ...Donny not so much. Needs to show more aggression and hunger.
- Bailly and Lindelof look like two junior partners missing their central defensive leader.

The above sounds much more negative than I actually felt about the performance though. I thought they did pretty well considering the inexperience and you can forgive stray passed when you're passing to players without the muscle memory of knowing exactly where they are going because you've played together so often.
