I think it's right that he should be informed before it's made public but he should never be heavily involved in the recruitment process. The club should decide, not any individual player, however legendary he might be.

If we're making managerial calls based on who gives us the best chance of keeping Kane, then we're not making the right managerial call.

I really hope Levy wouldn't actually go and ask Kane who he wants as manager. What a way to run a football club.

That said, I think the OP makes a good point. We're seeing more and more that the players liking the guy in charge can be more important than how experienced or qualified they are as a manager. SAF wouldn't last a season these days.
