Wasn't it the other way round. He supported Usmanov's bid. The rest of the board were in the tank for Kroenke.
My understanding was that he introduced Kroenke to the board, encouraged his takeover, but then moved towards Usmanov.

He got fired for trying to bring Kroenke in and "sell" the club behind the back of the rest of the board
He then sold to Usmanov and supported his bid while the remaining board went with Kroenke
Kroenke is a Spurs fan .
Its the only logical explanation
