Whyte got KO'd by a 40 year old so has gone down the pecking order. Plus he is already AJ's cast off.
----------------------
A KO that Whyte avenged with a convincing defeat and revenge KO. What's your point? AJ got beat up and KO'd by a short chubby Mexican. One defeat means little though, especially when that defeat is avenged.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
AJ has already beaten Whyte. He was offered a rematch but Whyte declined and went down the WBC route. This fight does not have much interest for me. Usyk is the much better fight.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agreed. Usyk poses the bigger questions both from a styles perspective and IQ standpoint. Whyte is a great fight to make, once AJ has fought Fury and Wilder and is looking to wrap his career up.

That fight was five years ago. Since then Whyte has improved a lot and beaten everyone he's faced including Chisora twice and Parker and he convincingly beat Povetkin in the rematch, battered him in fact. That's much more than Usyk has done at HW.
Usyk doesn't provide any real threat to AJ, he doesn't have the power at HW to KO him. Should be a straightforward win for AJ regardless of Usyk being an excellent cruiser. He's not a real HW though and therein lies the problem.

We get it mate, you dont rate Joshua lol
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I rate him highly, describing him a few comments ago as an absolute monster, that's why I'm saying Usyk has no chance against him. If I didn't rate AJ surely I'd be saying the opposite.

Disagree. He's probably the second best technical boxer in the division. As long as he doesn't get knocked out he'd win most fights on points.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He's a HW now though, so he needs to be able to KO fighters as well otherwise he'll only get so far with very good technical skills against much bigger guys who will be able to KO him with a single punch.
Usyk doesn't need to be able to KO fighters. Would it help, yes of course it would. However, boxing is more about skill and a Usyk has enough skill and IQ to give anyone a test.

Which is boxing at its essence. Hit and don't get hit.
The HW division is a very different division to the rest though. Power is extremely important there and you'll only get so far without it. Doesn't matter how technically skilful you are. Show me a dominant HW Champion in boxing history who didn't have an at least decent KO record.
Usyk fighting at HW is brave but in time people will see that he just doesn't have the size and power to compete against the very best. And as a result he's out of his depth against the much bigger AJ. But if people need to see this fight to understand that then so be it. I'll definitely be referring back to my comments in this article after that fight.

Once again, of course power is important a HW but skills can compensate for a lack of power to a certain extent. Ali is one of the greatest HW's of all time and he wasn't known to be a big puncher. His speed, reflexes and athleticism compensated for his lack of power.
Superb
Nobody is saying Usyk is going to dominate or run the HW division. All I am suggesting is that his skillset and IQ can cause fighters like AJ trouble. I still expect AJ to beat him but I think it will be a lot harder than most of his recent opponents.

Depends on how the fight goes. If it's a close fight, AJ will get the nod, as he is the cash cow.
Personally, outside of Fury or Wilder, AJ vs Usyk interests me more than any other HW matchup that can be made currently for AJ.

Well you said that Usyk doesn't need to be able to KO fighters. I disagree. I don't think that a fighter can do anything significant in the HW division if he's not getting at least some KO's.
WBC world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has signed his contract to face Deontay Wilder on 24 July
From the BBC
Funny how quick he signed the contract while delaying the AJ contract for months
I guess he had a deadline to meet but yes I agree.
