OP change your username, no 'gentleman' (courteous in conduct) would ever call Ole a 'shill'.
For me, you've just created a second article to yet again verbally abuse the manager.
Togetherness? Romero isn't happy. I doubt DDG is. Bailly was reportedly unhappy. Pogba was said to want out. Several players have been caught digging each other out. Nicky Butt has left the club. Ole just blamed the fans for our losing the last 2 games.
---------------------------------
if DDG is unhappy because he has been replaced by henderson then so be it... his form has tailed off and he only has himself to blame
if bailly is unhappy about not making the first team because he is unreliable and made of glass... then so be it
pogba is said to be interested in signing a new contract
if players are "digging each other out" because standards arent being reached that are expected...good!
if butt aas reported left because he was overlooked for promotion... well thats feck all to do with ole
and ole was right.. playing 2 games in 5 days because of the protest most likely did cost us.
in case you are not aware, ole doesnt hand out contracts so your 600k comment is pointless... just like your existence on here.

Abuse is a strong word. I'm not sure calling someone a shill is characterised as abuse. The definition is quite clear and specific.

I do still think Ole is a shill for the Glazers
--------------------
Can i ask how you think he is a shill?
Even in the loosest sense of the word, it doesn't really add up. It's not like every other statement out of Ole's mouth is praise for the Glazers. He, like literally every employee in the world, doesn't slate his bosses in public.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't expect Ole to critisise the Glazers but because he is an ex player they expect that fans will be more patient on the football side of things. As for the business side of things because he is so grateful for the opportunity he will never press them for improvements behind the scenes or publicly.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I just find this odd. Only last week he was discussing how we need to strengthen in the summer to compete with City. And he has said it during/before every transfer window.
I feel like some of our fans just make stuff up about Ole so that they have something to criticise him about. Its weird.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So you don't think the fans are more patient with Ole because he is an ex United player and you don't think the glazers would take advantage of this of true?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think that fans are more patient for a number of reasons.
he isnt a grade a cant like jose for starters, publicly throwing players under the bus and belittling them.
he is more than happy to admit his mistakes unlike previous managers
he comes across in the right way in interviews
we are sat in second, and some.. not all fans realize that it is not 1996 anymore and we are no longer the best team in england.
like i said before, there appears to be a unity within the squad not seen since the days of fergie
youth has been given a chance
certain players have improved
but if you think its only because he is an ex player then so be it
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I agree entirely with this. There are so many other factors to this than the fact that Ole is a former United player. Yet the Ole out brigade try to simplify it to this one thing.

Who is simplifying it to one thing?

Ole had been through one of our most successful spells at the club and knows what it means to play for utd.
since he has come in we have seen a togetherness that we have not seen since fergie.
he has promoted from within, given youth a chance and pushed up back towards the top of the league.
we are in our best position since fergie went in terms of how we are looking for the future.
to suggest he was given the job to help improve "atmosphere" is moronic
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How does Ole bring any more stability to the club than any other manager would have?

Best looking for the future? We have a 2 No 1's earning £600k per week between them. Terrible CB options, poor.CM options, no wingers and are reliant on a 34 year old CF.
Whatever has happened, Ole was most definitely brought into to improve the atmosphere.

Yep, your intention was to be insulting, demeaning, and name calling is by definition 'verbal abuse'.
name-calling in British English
noun
verbal abuse, esp as a crude form of argument
name-calling in American English
(ˈneɪmˌkɔlɪŋ )
noun
the use of disparaging or abusive names in attacking another
name-calling in American English
(ˈneimˌkɔlɪŋ)
noun
the use of abusive names to belittle or humiliate another person in a political campaign, an argument, etc
As for still trying to defend the use of the word 'shill' ... by definition he can't be as we know he works for the Glazers.
If someone like David Beckham suddenly started spouting off about how wonderful the Glazers without disclosing he was being paid to promote them, then you would have a case to use the term.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
By using the word 'shill' you're essentially accusing Solskjaer of consciously acting in bad faith, deliberately conning the supporters. First of all, that's hyperbolic, because even if you're right about the conscious deceit in his stance, you're defining his role by his symbolic significance and the occasional press conference, rather than by the hours of work he puts in every day.
Secondly, it lacks nuance, because most of us make compromises in our lives for what we see on balance is the overall good. Few people are in such a position of autonomy that they can choose to work for organisations or causes that they 100% endorse. I think it's a reasonable assumption that Solskjaer loves Manchester United as a club, has a strong attachment to its history and support, and wants to do what he can to make the club prosper on the pitch. We can only speculate what he thinks about the Glazers. If he has profound misgivings about them, then there is certainly an element of untruth about his public statements, but I don't think that adds up to something we'd normally describe as a 'shill', which implies that dishonesty is the defining characteristic of the activity, rather than a pragmatic accommodation.

Interesting perspective. I wanted to make s point though and it was a perfect description of what I wanted to get across. When you try to avoid offending everyone you end up saying nothing at all. Also it's a metaphors so it won't have an exact translation. The idea is that Ole is posing as one of us but his loyalty is first to the glazers. The fact that people find that a very touchy subject and in some cases impossible to believe only proves my point.

I think it is definitely simplifying. You suggested the United fans give Ole more time because he is a former United player.
That might be one factor, but there are plenty of others, as have already been given to you. So yes, you are simplifying the argument down to 1 thing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You may think I'm simplifying, I don't share your view. O think I've been fair in acknowledging oles contributions also. We may have to agree to disagree!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't really see how acknowledging Ole's contributions is relevant to your simplifying the question as to whether United fans give Ole more time because he used to play for the club.

OP change your username, no 'gentleman' (courteous in conduct) would ever call Ole a 'shill'.
For me, you've just created a second article to yet again verbally abuse the manager.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Shill
noun
an accomplice of a confidence trickster or swindler who poses as a genuine customer to entice or encourage others.
"I used to be a shill in a Reno gambling club"
verb
act or work as a shill.
"your husband in the crowd could shill for you"
Abuse really?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yep, your intention was to be insulting, demeaning, and name calling is by definition 'verbal abuse'.
name-calling in British English
noun
verbal abuse, esp as a crude form of argument
name-calling in American English
(ˈneɪmˌkɔlɪŋ )
noun
the use of disparaging or abusive names in attacking another
name-calling in American English
(ˈneimˌkɔlɪŋ)
noun
the use of abusive names to belittle or humiliate another person in a political campaign, an argument, etc
As for still trying to defend the use of the word 'shill' ... by definition he can't be as we know he works for the Glazers.
If someone like David Beckham suddenly started spouting off about how wonderful the Glazers without disclosing he was being paid to promote them, then you would have a case to use the term.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Interesting perspective.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Whatever he thinks of them in private, they're responsible for paying his wages, and he probably quite likes being United manager. There's also the fact that he's got to demonstrate a level of professionalism and isolate the players from this as far as possible. Calling him a 'shill' seems quite a childish viewpoint to me.

Ole is not trying to pose as 'one of us', I think we all understand that he has a contract of employment and that means he has to work with the Glazers (as best he can) and not against them.
This is not loyalty to the Glazers, it's professionalism.
If anything Ole is more loyal to the club and to upholding its traditions than his recent predecessors, and that should be applauded.
Is it just me or did Gentleman quietly just shift from defending the use of 'shill' as perfectly reasonable to asserting that he was using the word metaphorically (so the distance between the actual meaning of the word and the reality he applies it to is everyone else's fault for being so goddam literal)?

Best looking for the future? We have a 2 No 1's earning £600k per week between them. Terrible CB options, poor.CM options, no wingers and are reliant on a 34 year old CF.
Whatever has happened, Ole was most definitely brought into to improve the atmosphere.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Who is simplifying it to one thing?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well you did for a start:
"So you don't think the fans are more patient with Ole because he is an ex United player"
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't think that's simplifying it to one thing. You've chosen to ignore my multiple posts including the op where I've given Ole credit for the footballing side of things I literally said in the op also that both cam be true so now I must ask you if you are intetionally simplifying my argument for me because it's easier for you to imagine that I'm being critical because I just don't like the manager?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think it is definitely simplifying.
We may have to agree to disagree!

ut was nothing to do with just atmosphere.
it was to bring in some stability to the club.
Togetherness? Romero isn't happy. I doubt DDG is. Bailly was reportedly unhappy. Pogba was said to want out. Several players have been caught digging each other out. Nicky Butt has left the club. Ole just blamed the fans for our losing the last 2 games.
Jose promoted from within, gave youth a chance and pushed us towards the top of the league.
Best looking for the future? We have a 2 No 1's earning £600k per week between them. Terrible CB options, poor.CM options, no wingers and are reliant on a 34 year old CF.
Whatever has happened, Ole was most definitely brought into to improve the atmosphere.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And you wonder why no-one takes your seriously?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't really care. Why should I?
BTW, which of my point ys did you agree with and why?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The majority of them are a load of BS, as has already been address by another poster.
