Nope i agree that i wouldn't pay anywhere near that for him. However, if being one trick means you score 14 from the wing and assist plenty in a poor sidethen I'd take that.

Not going overboard, him and a few players have started to perform when the pressure has been off. Was anonymous against Villarreal at home, that’s when you want your big players to step up, not just him but il change my mind on him when I see a consistent season. Talented player in his day no doubt.
He is slowly paying down his mortgage but time will tell if he can justify the price paid for him.

Are you adding his goals in the Ropey league against Estonian builders?
I got so much stick when I said we shouldn't sign him at the time, but he's starting to mature as a player. Forget about the price tag, it's ancient history. He is a great winger to have in the squad, someone who can score two free kicks in one game and who can win you games on his own. He might mature into a world class player, if he is coached perfectly, but he is more likely to be a mercurial talent. When we have players like Saka, Martinelli and ESR who can play in his positions, that's enough.
Questions remain over Arteta's coaching, to put it mildly, but I think he is managing Pepe perfectly, and giving him the opportunity to step his game up whilst protecting him.
Pepe has improved considerably but from such a terrible base, he is very inconsistent and certainly not a star but overall he is quite decent now.
Of course he’s still a disastrous buy for 72m but it’s not his fault that we got duped into paying that.
