My best mate is from Portugal and is a Benfica fan. He likes Lage and thinks he did a good job. Had a win ratio of 67%, turned them round but got sacked after a poor run.

He actually reckons he'd be a good bit of business for us.

Roy Hodgson would be a brilliant choice but doubt if he'd come. There will be a huge number leaving (or wanting to leave) and he's the kind of manager that can stabilise a sinking club. Had he not taken the England job, West Brom would have been a top eight regular never in danger of decline. He left and they went down twice.

Palace would have been down every season but for him.

Big Sam - NO
Lampard - NO
Gerrard - NO
Potter - Maybe
Rafa - Maybe
Hodgson - YES

The rest on the list are all managing in Portugal or Spain. You could end up with a Nuno or a Zenga.

Don't think we're a "sinking club" Herbie, but keep with your doom and gloom.

Nuno has achieved 3 of the 7 best league positions in the last 60 years!

He’s going to be very, very difficult to replace.

A poll on the Mix has Lopetegui as the overwhelming favourite wanted by the fans. Zero chance of that sadly.

Can't say I know much about Lage but apparently delivered some great football and of course the title to Bnefica. A bad run the following season saw him axed but I think that is the Portuguese way at the big clubs.

Nice attacking football and probably the best Portuguese coach

MolMix is mental at the moment. Grown men actually crying all day because we are changing our manager and getting angry with anyone who has ever criticised anything this season. You would have thought Wolverhampton Wanderers were being dissolved by some of the reactions.

Yes, it is sad Nuno is going and he deserves a proper send off, but every cycle has to end at some point. A new one always brings plenty of possibilities and opportunities. I'm not sure why the future all has to be gloom.

You seen the Spurs board lately?

Whoever we get, I hope it's around June 9th as that is when the summer transfer window opens and that will give the new coach enough time to get his own players in.

Euro's start two days later on 11th.

Yeah read some of it today and some people just need to get out more I reckon. Talk about losing grip of reality, jesus!!!

Don't get me wrong, it is a shame it is happening the way it is but it felt like a poorly kept secret in recent weeks anyway, I was about 80% sure he was leaving this summer so I don't really understand why some were so surprised by it.

I am excited for the future, we may get it wrong at first but we may also get it very right. At the end of the day I have never been a fan of our style of play under Nuno but while results were there it was more than tolerable but this season from a viewing perspective has been miserable and that was before injuries kicked in, even last season we were an ugly watch.

Yes whatever happens it needs to happen sooner rather than later, we can't be dragging our heels. I do think that we are a long way through the process though and don't believe for a second this was a decision only made a few days ago as Tim I believe has said.

I think the club have said they will have made an appointment within the next 2 weeks. So it will be before the transfer window opens.

Amusing to read cinci and tam using this site to criticise what people are writing on another site. Personally I think most of what they write on this site is utter tripe so I’m certain most of the views they criticise are far more sensible than theirs

I have always thought that the only good reason to part ways with a manager is to bring in someone better. I think wolves have a difficult task bringing in someone that will be an improvement on one of the best managers we’ve had.

I know some people were delighted when mccarthy moved on. Then the club brought in Connor then Solbakken and Saunders who were all complete failures and we ended up in league one.

Now we are reliant on Chinese owners who know next to nothing about football to make a wise choice. Will Jeff decide or Mendes or Molmix or will we end up with another Zenga. What we can probably most be sure about is that they will choose an ex goalkeeper.

Time will tell if this summer will see us take another step towards breaking into the top six or reminiscing for years about the days we got to 12th in the premier league or even 7th. Not done that for 40 years, so fingers crossed we don’t have to wait that long for the next time

It is funny how Tim was widely criticised when he was E&S reporter. Since he went to the Athletic he seems to be regarded as the font of all knowledge.

I think it’s been a shame this season that the club have only had the keyboard warriors for their feedback from fans. I think the club would have got a very different feel if they’d heard the voices of 30,000 people inside Molineux
