Don't take any notice of the previous post RFB. Just use your common sense, why would sticking needles in you help? It all makes perfect sense to those who believe in magic I suppose.

I'd suggest sticking needles in your own eyes is preferable to being a Derby fan atm.

Youvegpt Dunning Kruger here mate, there is heaps of science behind it, you shouldn't dismiss what you don't understand.

You ever actually done it? Read about it? I thought not.

It's an interesting area. There isn't "heaps of science" behind acupuncture, far from it, but this paper suggests that "real" acupuncture works slightly better than "sham" acupuncture. However the additional benefit of real over sham is smaller than the benefit of sham alone which strongly suggests that the main effect of both is placebo. This also assumes that the practitioners in both groups were equally plausible to their clients which may not have been the case. The acupuncturists were told to give either "real" or "fake" acupuncture sessions and it might be the case that they were less convincing when they knew they were not delivering the "real" needle punctures. The fact that the benefit is primarily if not entirely placebo doesn't matter of course if it provides some improvement for the patient and causes no harm, other than to his or her wallet. In fact placebos generally work better if the person receiving it has had to pay for the privilege.

It works really well in my experience, there's loads of detailed research behind it. Makes no odds to me if people think its nonsense, when you can't sleep properly you'll try anything, and it works.

Science behind it is zero. Money behind alternative medicine is big. Guess what wins. You are yet to tell me why it should work other than you believe in it. That's ok but don't try and push your quackery on to others.

Agree Spart. Although Acupuncture is probably slightly more effective than prayer (sorry Rev, no offense meant), but slightly less effective than crossing your fingers.

CPAP probably the one I'd go for though if I was unfortunate enough to be a sufferer

Talk about thread derailment!

I can sleep, very well as long as I have the CPAP working, I posted this here because Peeder is also a suffer and he might not know. A new machine after 7 years! pass the message on please!
