Because the ball was going over so not as if he was stopping a goal or a cross and he was right next to it how could he move. Even all the pundits seem to think it wasn't a pen

Defo pen LSTD, very close to the ball, but essien's hands were up past his face, so he was clearly not protecting his face. He also had a choice weather to put them up or not, it wasn't as though he was stuck in one position.
When you jump like that you put your hands up though you don't jump with them by your side
As I say he didnt stop a man city chance if anything he gave them the ball back, at first thought pen but after replays think its harsh
Don't think you can have any complaints.
When you put your hands up like that in the box, your taking a chance.
lstd i gave away a pen via a handball in a game before and my hand was down. i was just trying to mark and the ball flew into my arm.
