The gane started at a high tempo with both teams looking to create early chances and it was Birmingham who came closest in the opening stages with Goetze finding Van Persie outwide and is drilled ball in almost found a way through to Robben, with Pique having to clear it out for a corner. The corner was delivered in and Vermealen rose well to head goalwards with Casillas force to tip it over the bar. The second corner was cleared. The game slowed down in tempo as both teams started to look to keep hold of possession but it was a mistake the lead to the opener, Goetze keeping the ball for too long and Cambiasso winning it and finding Ozil on the counter, the german managed to skip away from De Jong and slip in Benzema to score. Man City started to make more chances for themselves with Cech having to make a brilliant save to keep Nanis goalbound drive out. Birmingham had chances too with Eto'o forcing a good save out of Cassilas before Van Persie curled a shot just wide. The half finished with City in the lead. Both teams made changes with Suarez and Lucho coming on for City and Kaka, Cahill and Gervinho for Birmingham. Birmingham started well with Kaka immidiatley involved picking out Robben who beat his man and sent in a cross for Eto'o but Pique tidyed up. Birmingham started to peg City back with Gervinho showing good trickery on the edge of the box before firing in a shot but Cassilas made the save. Eventually the pressure told with Man City mispacing a pass that Robben latched onto and drove towards goal before firing a shot into the top corner. Birmingham brought on Martinez while City introduced Tevez. Both teams continued to attack and City quickly got the lead back when Lucho brought the ball forward and found Tevez who backheeled the ball through for the run of Ozil whos first shot was saved before he fired in the rebound. Towards the end Birmingham were putting all the pressure on but the defence remained solid. chelsea back in talks for de bruyne now lukaku is sorted

a lot of news starting to say that a bid of cash and kalou for modric is imminent, great news if it is true lol get rid of kalou and buy a playmaker. Would mean we would go for a top class winger too probably.

Chelsea 2-1 Hull City
Goal Scorers: Aguero(Torres), Aguero(Marcelo); Cassano(Vaart)

Report: A game between two teams who will be looking for some form of silverwear next season and it was an entertaining encounter. Hull started well taking the game to their more illustrious opponents with Neymar causing early problems. The young brazilian beat Lahm before slipping in Bent who forced a fine save from Cesar. Moments later Neymar was at it again, this time with a fantastic ball out to Cassano who beat Ansaldi then crossed into the box to where Neymar attempted the overhead kick but it flew over the bar. Chelsea started to get more control over te game though with Essien and Gustavo retaining possession well. Gustavo found Torres who skipped away from a challenge and played the ball out wide to Lucas who ran at Pieters but the defender was alert and took Lcas out to the corner flag and won his team a goal kick. Chelsea had their first shot on goal when Aguero played a great ball out to Lahm on the overlap and his cross found Torres rising well to head goalwards with Stekelenburg having to push the shot wide. Hull had the next attack when Danilo made a clever run forward and put a cross into the area but Kompany dealt with it well and cleared upfield. The first goal went to Chelsea when Torres made a run down the flank and stepped past a challenge to cut in and find Aguero who looked up and fired a shot past Stekelenburg. In the second half both teams had chances early on, first to Chelsea when Mata found Gustavo who fired just over and then Cassano curled a shot just wide of the post with Cesar stranded. The same player did get an equalizer for Hull when Vaart found him making a run in behind the defence and he chipped the ball over the advancing keeper. Both teams made changes with Marcelo, Sahin and Carvalho coming on for Chelsea and Kolarov and Agbonlahor for Hull. Chelsea had the next chance with Mata beating Danilo and crossing, Rami headed away and Essien fired it back towards goal, taking a wicked deflection so Stekelneburg had to make a save. Hull had their chances too, Agbonlahor using his pace to get into a good position to cross but Terry headed clear, soon after Neymar found Bent who knocked it back to vaart who curled a shot goalwards and Cesar made the save. It was Chelsea who went through to the next round when Marcelo burst forward and exchanged passes with Torres before finding Aguero who tapped the ball past Stekelenburg. Chelsea go into the semis, Fan will be happy with the improvement in his Hull side though.
