Almost got my firt team sorted, once they are sorted out, I'll put in consideration the team I am going to play against Villa. Want to do well in the cup so want to put out quite a strong side, depends who I have in the league afterwards really.
I might try a Juve style 3-5-2
Do you guys reckon Mata could play just off the striker?
Probably not. If you were going to do that then you'd probably need Mata in more of a wide area but you have your Wing Backs for that, just rest him and play Gaitan in CM maybe?

Have De Bruyne in a Pirlo type role, starting the attacks, Ramires and Yaya in the Vidal and Marchiso role as the power and energy in midfield. Azpilicueta and Marcelo as wing backs and Mata in a Giovinco type role supporting Soldado/Jovetic?
Dont see why Mata couldnt play centre, imo great players can play in a number of positions ie Aguero lw, rw, ss, cf

personally think granero > de jong, prince > dempsey
thats what i was thinking, dont think it would work for you though, khedira not right for that system imo
