Liverpool manager on his new haircut:

"If you imagine the Chelsea boss mum's shave down below mixed with a bit of Assou Ekotto and Robbie Savage, then you have exactly what it looks like. I just couldn't resist the new look, I may even die it ginger like Alex Song."

Lstd, jovetic or henderson at rm?

posted on 3/9/11

Wickham not sure, everyone thinks he's amazing but from what I've seen at Ipswich he has moments of brilliance but drifts out of games very easily. One for the future but I struggle to see him being WC

Jovetic, think Henderson is better in the middle

I need some predos for Wolves Arsenal.
Wolves tactics on tactics page
Arsenal:
------------------- Reina ----------------
Dani Alves -- Mexes -- Vidic – A.Cole
--------- De Rossi --- Schwein' ------
----------------- Sneijder --------------
C.Ronaldo ----- E.Dzeko ----- D.Silva

Subs:
H.Lloris
I.Miquel
F.Coentrao
D.Fletcher
A.Pato
A.Johnson
D.Villa
==================================
Substitutions:

(D.Villa > Silva – 70th minute – Look to take advantage of their tiring fullback late on and run at him, link-up with Cole and provide in the final third)

(Fletcher > Schwein > 70th minute – Fletcher play in a similar role to Schwein, look to protect the back 4, look to win the ball when possible and get us moving forward)
==========================================
Main Tactics:

Reina will look to stay sharp and focused all game and look to take command of his box. He will come out for anything within his reach/capability and narrow the angle for opposing strikers whilst distributing possession to players in space to start attacks.

Our fullbacks Alves and Cole will look stick tight to their wingers allowing them no room or space, they will look to use their pace and strength to marshal them off the ball and look to get an early challenge in. They will also look to force their wingers wide so they’re unable to constantly cut in on their preferred foot and put in strong challenges to put them off their game. Once the game has settled they will also look to venture forward whenever possible to support our wingers down the flanks whilst DM's cover however they will ensure defensive duties are first priority but this is flexible through their work rate and determination. Vidic will look to mark their main striker, he will look to close him down rapidly and isolate him, not allowing him time on the ball, he will also use his physical ability and strength to his advantage to win aerial headers and make strong challenges to win back possession. He will also constantly look to hound him and use his natural aggression to make him uncomfortable and bully him out the game making sure he gets no service. Mexes will look to play slightly further back and mop up anything that goes beyond Vidic. This is to ensure we can deal with the threat of any pace and limit any one on ones. He will also look to read the game, watch for runners and anticipate opposing attacks so our defence can deal with them before they get into dangerous positions. Our defence should work as a unit to avoid leaving any space at the back, closing down any opposing player is vital as we don’t want them to have any time on the ball, this will then lead them to rush and thus lose the ball so we can counter.

De Rossi and Schweinsteiger will play just ahead of our defence breaking up play, two enforcers will allow our front 4 the freedom to attack whilst also bulking up the defensive part of our game at the back. De Rossi will look to be more physical with a ‘get in your face’ attitude and make his presence felt. He’ll constantly look to make strong challenges and use his strong physicality to shrug off attackers to win us back the ball. Schweinsteiger meanwhile will look to be more active, pressing opponents, looking to close down options , assisting our fullbacks through doubling up and generally putting pressure on their midfielders to force mistakes. He will also look to use his awareness, vision and passing range from deep to get our attackers into space. De Rossi and Schwein should both ensure their midfielders have no time to dictate the play in the middle of the park, we will look to overrun them and get our creative players on the ball as much as possible. Today Sneijder will be deployed in a attacking role, he will look to get us going forward and act as a ‘feeder’ to the attacking trio. He will look to use his vision and awareness to look for openings and link up with our attackers to commit their defence further forward thus creating space for others whilst also looking to support attacks and shooting from range. He will also look to link-up with the likes of Schwein, Silva. We will look to play a quick passing game to frustrate and tire out their DM’s and then look for that killer ball looking for the runs of Dzeko, Ronaldo and co.

Our wingers Ronaldo and Silva will look to provide the width today. They will look to get at their fullbacks and look to beat them using skill and pace whilst also coming inside to dictate the play, looking to take on defenders and shooting when possible. Alves and Cole should always provide options on the outside so we can take advantages of their fullbacks defensive vulnerabilities and make their lives difficult. Dzeko meanwhile will play in a central role, we feel with his movement, height and aggression he can get the better off his marker. He also has the quality of holding up play effectively to link-up with Silva/Ronaldo/Sneijder so we can take advantage of space and run at their defenders. In addition Dzeko will look to work the channels and look to use his physical presence in the means of attacking crosses/set pieces.
====================================
Other tactics:
Captain - Vidic
FK'S - Ronaldo
Corners - Sneijder
Pens - Ronaldo
