Portsmouth vs West Bromwich
After a brilliant win vs West Ham, West Brom looked to continue their great start down south against Portsmouth. Portsmouth however looked to get their first win of the season. Portsmouth got off to a good start, Kroos taking on 3 West Brom players and then getting in to the box and firing just wide. West Brom went close when Nzogbia crossed in for Carrol who flicked the ball on but Akinfeev tipped the ball over. Both teams were cancelling each other out, Gargano should of been off when he two footed Toni Kroos but it was only a yellow. The game was becoming a midfield battle but it burst in to life when Barrios held off Jagielka and set up Kroos whose shot rifled in to the top corner. Robinson could only watch. West Brom nearly got an equalizer in stoppage time when Lescott rose at a free kick but his header went wide of the post.West Brom dominated in the first 20 minutes of the second half and took the lead on the hour mark when Carroll fired home from an Nzogbia cross. This was a wake up call for Portsmouth and they started to come forward, they went close in the 72nd minute when Willians cross was met by a Carzorla volley but Robinson pushed it out for a corner. West Brom went close when Carrolls header hit the bar but Portsmouth took the lead in the 84th minute when Kroos played through Barrios who placed it past Robinson. There were not many real chances after that and the full time whistle went.
