renegade yh they dont always work though tbh teams can break it down if they play well enough

--------------------------------------------

You've obviously never watched Rangers. It works.

Only time it doesn't work is when we get too confident and throw players forward, normally against smaller sides.

With better players it should be harder to break down.

Not moaning just seemed like my tactics hadn't been read, with no subs coming on.

Got a nil nil draw against United away, at home only lost to a late penalty.

As I said Barca couldn't beat us. We do better when we stick to the tactics, its when we attack teams we dont do well. Beating Lyon away in that same group.

Like when we got to the Uefa Cup final, think we felt more that we had to attack because it was the final.

We lose when we don't play defensive football like this season up against minnows.

Arsenal V Newcastle

Today’s match sees Rooney’s highly quality Arsenal side take on a very competitive Newcastle side. Arsenal will hope to win to build on their good form since the start of the season while Newcastle will want to get 3 points closer to Europe. The first 10 minutes began very competitively as both teams struggled to create many chances. Arsenal managed to create one chance when Schweinsteiger sent the ball down the right wing for Ronaldo to run on to however Boateng managed to intercept the ball away just in time. As the half continued, Arsenal began to open up Newcastle more when Silva played some brilliant football with Villa and Young. Silva managed to run past the pressure from Barry, and then used a 1-2 option with Young. This left Silva with a good opportunity to give a clear chance for Villa to score however Hummels intercepted the ball and played it forward. Newcastle then found themselves playing too defensively as Arsenal settled into the match and began to dominate. De Rossi created an opening in defence when he hit a long ball in to Newcastle’s box with Villa heading it towards goal which Jaaskainan hit out for a corner. Ashley Young hit the ball into the centre of the box which Vidic got to however the goalkeeper punched away another header. Vucinic then got hold of the loose ball and made a quick run. Despite a wonderful run, Alves caught up with Vucinic. Modric however was made available in space. With Modric now on the ball he avoided the pressure from De Rossi and found Llorente through on goal. Llorente made a first touch and then placed the ball into the bottom left hand corner making it 1-0 to Newcastle. When the whistle blew for half time, Rooney was furious with how his team allowed modric with so much space. Despite winning at half time Robin didn’t look too pleased at how his team let Arsenal create so many opportunities.

Newcastle came out slightly stronger in the second half. The new found confidence obviously was a factor as they create the first attack. Modric was again involved when he found Krasic in space on the wing. Krasic then fought off pressure from Contrao and fired the ball towards the Di Natali who volleyed the ball over. Another chance was created except this time Modric wasn’t involved. Barry made a fantastic pass to vucinic who ran to the edge of the box and found Barry again just in the Penalty Arch where he hit the ball first time straight to the keeper. Arsenal did manage to pose some challenge to Newcastle however the defending had significantly improved since the first half. Schweinsteiger found Ronaldo on the edge of the box however Boateng had him marked which meant the ball was booted away. A change for Arsenal was need if they were to have any chance of getting a result. As a result Rooney took off Ronaldo and Silva for Johnson and Rooney. This changed Arsenal’s style as the fresh legs of Johnson and Rooney ran Newcastles defence rugged. An equaliser from Arsenal then came 5 minutes later when Rooney got hold of a Johnson pass and smacked the ball right through Jaaskainams legs. Newcastle needed to contain Rooney and Johnson if they had any chance of keeping a draw. Ronaldo had tested Boateng throughout game and despite winning the battle against Ronaldo, Boateng found himself too tired to deal with Johnson. Towards the end of the game, Newcastle were lacking fitness which meant Arsenal began to dominate again. With time running out, Schweinsteiger sent a long pass down to Young who outran Zabaleta and sent the ball flying to the box. Unfortunately most the players missed it other than Johnson who sent the ball back and Rooney headed the ball towards goal but swerved and hit the post. Young then quickly ran towards the ball and hit the ball as hard as he could into the top right corner making the scoreline 2-1. Newcastle looked determined not to lose after letting in such a late goal. Consequently, as soon as they took the centre kick they passed the ball round which left gaps in midfield. Modric got hold of the ball and started running towards goal. This is when he found Krasic in space so he chipped it over Vidic which Krasic got hold of. Krasic then shot the ball straight passed the keeper. The Newcastle fans were Jubilant and couldn’t believe they may have snatched a draw. However celebrations were stopped when the linesman disallowed the goal for offside. Robin and his Newcastle players went mental at this decision as Krasic was certain he was in line with Alves. Replays have since shown that he was infact onside. The whistle then went for full time. At this period 3 Newcastle players ran towards the ref to complain however he wasn’t listening to any complaints. Robin will have felt robbed while Rooney will be satisfied with his team’s performance for most of the game.

Arsenal 2-1 Newcastle
Scorers: Llorente 43’, Rooney 75’, Young 88’

Arsenal’s Man of the Match- Nemanja Vidic – Throughout the game he reduced the amount of Newcastle opportunities to the minimum.

Newcastle’s Man of the Match – Luka Modric – Was involved in almost every single Newcastle opportunity and assisted the first goal.

Plus, Smith used same tactics for Scotland, helping us beat France.

They work, just most fans wouldn't accept using the tactics.

To an extent? It worked, otherwise it wouldn't have annoyed people so much as they'd simply laugh at us!
