Barca struggling to offload Coutinho

he'd be a good option that offers us something different and what we possibly lack, he played a decent part in bayerns CL success too. It'd depend on price and wage demands for me. Unless its an absolute bargain like 20m or something and his wage demands are 100k a week then no for me.

as for the selling of the debt to finance company, seemed a strange rumour to me. At a time they were already floating millions interest free to us for a stadium expansion? dont think fsg are desperate for cash theyd take a loss selling to debt companies. Barca will have to stump up eventually.

Please Arsenal sign him!

I stopped reading at " Quality player of course"

Loan spell at Bayern, sent him back, 3 managers at Barca and still doesnt make the grade. Does he even start for Brazil now. Think he got found out a bit. Always said he was a luxury player, reminds me of Samir Nasri.

Even contemplating taking him back for 15 million is crazy in my opinion.

You have made some daft midfield signings but even thinking about that one is crazy. I would be mortified if we signed him

At least someone remembers Nasri, that’s nice.

Maybe because Barca were making noises about delaying payments etc so we sold the debt for a discount to the finance company and resolves us having to deal with any headache.

Seems Barca are under financial strain so it’s not our problem anymore and we can continue with our strategy.

Nah...you leave..you leave. BIG mistake...same as sterling and b4 anyone says his premier titles etc.

It's not unreasonable to assume if sterling stayed at Anfield him and liverpool may have 2-3 titles....and who knows maybe 2 CL medals

Not our problem. We got the money and he's in decline.

It's not selling off debt, it's a factoring company. Many companies using them. It basically gives you the money upfront before you actually receive it. Say the terms were £40m in four years, you would receive say 90% of it and the other ten percent when the sum is paid is taken by the factoring company. That's if it's true of course.

but why would fsg need it instantly? when theyre already floating millions to the club interest free, its not like theyre in a rush or need for it instantly if theyre already doing stuff like that? seems to me like just chucking 10% of it away for nothing.

anyway doubt it makes much of a difference now just always struck me as odd.

To give us the cash flow from football operations to make payments for a number of players.
We do have to adhere to FFP.

maybe if desperate for it instant but ultimately thats still knocking 10% of it off the ffp balancing books further down the line too

Such a talented player. Was he just a complete caant or what?

Barca have been a joke of a club over the last few years. They have huge debt problems and their decisions on transfers are appalling. I’m thinking Luis Suarez here. That one really blew up in their faces.

I don’t doubt Cout is still a very good player and could still be great for us again. But it’s just not going to be feasible from the clubs policy on signings.

posted on 31/5/21

Nobody will take coutinho as it's a permanent transfer and his wage demands are stupid.

posted on 31/5/21

Spurs will sign him if they get Poch

Arsenal also interested

If he gets his confidence back we all know he's some player. He's played under Poch before and Poch still a huge fan

We need to be looking forwards, not backwards.
Even if PC could operate ay 70% of his previous levels, how many seasons could you realistically expect from a guy who's 29 this month?
Nah, that ship has sailed.

The thought of watching thiago, coutinho & firmino link up, with mane and salah wide/cutting in.....Full backs marauding and putting in crosses.......is the stuff of dreams for me.

Teams pak the bus anyway, let hendo or fabinho have a night off now and then.

posted on 31/5/21

Not saying I would want him back, but he’s definitely the type of player we need from midfield. Although we say about Coutinho every summer, Klopp ain’t going to bring him back unfortunately.

Reminds me a bit of James Rodríguez. Both excellent footballers at their best, but fell just short of making the final step up in football - which was the expectation given the fees paid for them.

Such big signings also mean big wages, so it's very hard to find a club that will show you the patience you might need to regain your form and confidence, especially when you increasingly have injury trouble -perhaps as a result of trying to push yourself too hard- which seems to be the case with both to some extent.

James problem was joining Real Madrid after the 2014 World Cup, where he got top scorer. Was always going to be huge pressure on him after that.

Similar to Coutinho went on loan to Bayern and now at Everton where he’s been alright, not great. Grass isn’t always greener as they say.

James, Coutinho, Kaka, Petit, Overmars etc etc - Spanish teams buying players on reputation and not seeing how they would fit into a system. Coutinho was never going to fit into our system which is more possession based and requires making space. Coutinho is a player to run into space, not create it. He was perfect for Liverpool's first system under Klopp which was pure speedy counter-attack. Not sure how he would fit in now.

lols. that firmly proves your own point as it is fundamentally incorrect in describing how coutinho was used by klopp lol.

you lot decided for political reasons that this transfer had to be done. there was no football in the decision making process. you were fleeced as a result.

Its that simple from our side. you started the dirty tricks with he agent in the summer and carried it on. you lost neymar and had a major political issue.
