What is the difference if we announced a manager today or next week?
PSG did activate a one year extension to Poch's contract the other day so it would complicate things. Maybe we are waiting for them to find a replacement before they release Poch as a goodwill gesture?
It'll roll on and on we'll be ill prepared going into the new season start poorly and already be off the pace and playing catch up if/when we do find form.

We can make all types of assumptions about what's going on, but we just don't know the fact. One fact is very clear....we have been managerless for over 6 weeks and this affects the recruitment of new players/ selling existing players and overall pre-season preparation....which starts next month.

To be fair, when Poch was sacked, Jose was appointed very quickly. Something it is better to take a bit of time over managerial appointments.
I was just about to respond to this after the first paragraph and then I saw this...
"Can it be that Spurs are using the Poch situation to drive season ticket sales and that Poch is leveraging the situation to get more control at PSG?"
Which is exactly what I was going to write. I wonder whether this was the entire communication between Levy and Poch. I think it's perfectly feasible that a deal has been struck between the pair to help each other out. Construct a 'flirting' lie between Spurs and Poch to raise season ticket renewals for Spurs and in turn make PSG dance to Poch's tune as a "please don't go" response. In other words, "sack Leonardo or I'm off".
I think, assuming Poch stays at PSG, we'll know more about Levy's intentions when we get an idea of the person he actually selects. If we end up getting Conte then you could argue that the courting of Poch was genuine as he's willing to fork out for a big name manager in Conte. The desire is there. If he goes for Ten Hag or lower on the financial risk scale, then I think it's fair to say that Poch and Conte weren't ever a consideration as Levy wouldn't have sanctioned it on a financial level. They both require a similar outlay - they'll both want assurances big money will be spent. ETH will not.
The more this drags on, the more I'm thinking ETH will be our man. That, for me, confirms that the Poch / Conte stories were nothing but a shameless push for ST renewals and should be the final straw for fans that have had enough with being pawns in Levy's game. How much longer are we going to put up with this?
I'm done if it's not Poch or Conte.

The appointment of a new manager will be made after June 4th. That should tell you something. The delay is to stop spurs fans cancelling their ST's when they find out it's a very underwhelming appointment.
It's fecking disgusting behaviour and not one associated with any club I'd ever want to support. It's taking advantage of people and their emotions. I really don't like it.
Obviously, if I'm wrong and Poch is appointed, I'll retract every statement I've ever made. I'm fickle like that.

I am frustrated, but I'm more concerned about the club's fortunes. We have had pathetic pre-seasons in recent years and this has always resulted in a bad start to the PL season. We really ought to sort out the managerial situation this week (at the latest) and then allow our new manager (in conjunction with the club) to start planning the restructuring of the squad. I really don't want the first few weeks of the season to be a write off. The 2020-21 season was painful enough thank you!
What a mess £7.5 million to Poch for gardening leave, £30 million wasted on the clueless one now more more money due to PSG probably £10 million to be back where we started with a par or worse squad of players. Still not a proper DOF in sight which is absolutely laughable.
Cluster fack from Levy but hey ho we will know in the next few days probably Poch to Spurs, Conte to PSG, Moyes to Everton

When I read a summary like this ref our utter shambolic handling of poch and Jose how the hell does levy stay in a job ?!
It’s mind boggling
As good as he has been with off field dealings etc in the past levy has made some really bad decisions managerially wise (he got lucky with Jol, Harry and poch as none of these guys were first choice we are led to believe)
It will be hard for me but I think I will be finally done with Tottenham if the next appointment is an utter shocker as all this press talk is for season tickets that would confirm
It won’t happen but I think it’s more important levy gets his p45 than it is for a new manager that’s how much my opinion of him has gone downhill
He is a rat
Before anyone says who else should we have running things I have zero idea....I just know I want levy out of tottenham now

Never gonna happen. The only way it does is if Spurs fans vote with their feet and refuse to turn up. I mean, look how toxic things are with Mike Ashley and he's still there. If they don't want to sell they'll stay. if they do want to sell, they'll only sell to someone willing to match their inflated price tag.

This isnt FIFA20 its the real world and when you are Real Madrid you can very easily click your fingers and get business done.
I would rather we take our time an make the best appointment we can rather than getting a deal over the line ASAP to meet some false deadline.

Wow....figures you just made up or are you simply taking the tabloid/twitterITK fools on their word.
Whatever pay out Jose would be due would be liked to him getting a new job. We will not be paying out his contract while he also earns top dollar elsewhere. Spurs, at worst, will pay the difference between the 2.
Fans hate Jose and want him out. Levy Sacks Jose and fans moan about Levy sacking Jose
Whilst I definitely don't trust Levy to make even a partially good decision on anything that relates to the playing football part of Spurs, with the exception of RM, who have got their guy within hours, there are several factors in this:
1. Levy probably knows he has to get this right.
2. I agree there are lots of typical Levy business reasons around season ticket sales ( not my problem as gave mine up at the end of 18/19 season when, to me it was clear as day what was happening with my club ) which does not surprise me with this guy.
3. Several clubs need to replace their manager ( Everton, Wolves, Celtic for example ) which could be providing a bit of an imbalance, with Levy desperately looking for yet another angle to somehow save more money on the back of this merry go round.
4. Maybe the Poch thing IS right, but just takes time given complex contract issues etc. Again, we are being asked, this time, to somehow trust what the media are saying. I would take note of Alistair Gold, but wouldn't give you tuppence for the rest.
5. The Euro's are starting in 9 days. Whilst managers obviously don't play in this, but every player worth anything will be, and are therefore either already out there, or at a training camp. But either way, players do impact managers. So, somehow, this tournament is playing it's part in the delays from Levy. A stretch I know, but maybe relevant ?
Ultimately, nobody on here can seriously expect Spurs to do anything in a timely, logical way eh ?

If you work out Jose's salary over the time with us and our contribution to his wage at Roma then £30 million is roughly where we are.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
When I read a summary like this ref our utter shambolic handling of poch and Jose how the hell does levy stay in a job ?!
He is a rat
Before anyone says who else should we have running things I have zero idea....I just know I want levy out of tottenham now
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Never gonna happen. The only way it does is if Spurs fans vote with their feet and refuse to turn up. I mean, look how toxic things are with Mike Ashley and he's still there. If they don't want to sell they'll stay. if they do want to sell, they'll only sell to someone willing to match their inflated price tag.
The problem isn't really Levy. It's Lewis.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I realise Lewis carried the can as much as levy
Fortunately for him he doesn’t show his face at games and make statements to fans which are full of utter shat

If you take you logic and apply it this way.....
If Man City are so keen on signing Kane and Kane wants to leave, what's the hold up?
This isnt FIFA20 its the real world and when you are Real Madrid you can very easily click your fingers and get business done.
I would rather we take our time an make the best appointment we can rather than getting a deal over the line ASAP to meet some false deadline.
We could have Martinez all line up by now if we wanted a quick appointment. I'd rather wait. Lets judge when we make the announcement

Maths and logic not your strong points are they
If you work out Jose's salary over the time with us and our contribution to his wage at Roma then £30 million is roughly where we are.
Also where did I mention I wasnt happy with the Jose sacking? oh dear its not going well for you is it
Still you got to say wow

This affects the recruitment of new players/ selling existing players and overall pre-season preparation
It's the 2nd of June. A week or two extra is not gonna hurt. The window opens in at the end of the month and some of our players will be involved in playing internationals. A little more patience is needed. I get the frustration though!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Window opens June 9th. I get your point but giving more time to Levy and Hitchen doesn’t fill me with confidence. Two of the most unqualified football men for a silverware focussed squad and management rebuild.
