2 Trophies in 20 years is a failure

posted on 5/6/21

I'd go as far as saying Levy and ENIC have been a failure overall.

Sure the stadium is great and increases revenue streams, but it's come at the cost of on the pitch success. We had an elite manager and top class first X1 and they refused to back him.

Let's be honest, Levy lucked out on Poch. He wanted Van Gaal. If it wasn't for poch we would most likely have only had that 1 CL appearance to go with his 1 milk cup trophy in 20 years.

Conte has exposed him for the fraud he is. Kane will have seen this and be even more desperate to leave.

Shambles.

Pure and simple shambles.

If we can't see it as that as fans, we are just kidding ourselves.

Let's not cut this in any way other than we have turned into a laughing team!

A club where fans are taken for a mug!

Is it 7 or 8 weeks without a MANAGER?

It will be pre-season soon and this is looking like yet another wasted season.

You forget the internationally famed Audi cup

Even with that "trophy" added, the haul looks pathetic.

The prospect of having yet another wasted season is going to be hard to take.

How did Levy luck out on Poch, he won zilch with the best set of players Spurs had in 30 years. He basically only had one decent season, the year Spurs finished 2nd, and went unbeaten. The other seasons were littered with early cup exits, mainly poor CL results, other than one fluky run to the final, domestic semi-final defeats and always failing when it really mattered. He was an OK manager, but seriously was not as good as most think he was.

He never won anything because Spurs owners didn't back him when it was required.

If they had, I'm convinced Spurs would have won the PL before Liverpool.

Just let that sink in before blaming anyone other than Levy for your club's recent failures.

I would imagine a lot of Spurs fans would agree with the above, even if you don't.

As an Arsenal fan I'm delighted and relieved that you're not getting Conte. I'd have feared what you could do with him.

Therefore, I can only imagine how peed off you all are.

I think this comment is the most damning indictment of Levy and ENIC. We had an opportunity to worry rival clubs and re-establish ourselves but as usual we're back to being a laughing stock.

This. A complete shambles. I’m just glad most Spurs fans agree now apart from a very select few like Sandy

Massive screw up by Levy to let Conte slip through the net. £3m salary difference and a few staff? Ridiculous

Going to cost you a lot more further down the line as he’s a top manager.

posted on 5/6/21

Don't you have some genuinely special young talents coming through at the moment? The sort who could replace the talent of the likes of Kane? Perhaps it'd be better to get a manager to nurture a rebuild and transition for the long term. Staying in the conversation for a long time, when you're not the superrich, is an achievement in of itself. I would be sad to have to hate Graham Potter but he's a very good manager.

Although to some extent I do agree with what you’ve written don, Levy does need some defending in theis situation: There has been a global pandemic for over a a year and the club has lost a massive amount of money. It’s widely accepted that there isn’t much cash in football right now, and if Spurs want to be run in a financially prudent way then they can’t afford to spend loads on players this summer. Some, sure, but not loads. If conte is making demands about huge transfer funds being available and the club don’t see that as possible (remember we also have no CL money for two years) then it’s not the right fit and best to walk away. He gets a lot of abuse and some of it justified, but like it or not football clubs are businesses and there isn’t a la unlimited pot of gold.

Saying all that, I do agree that we lack ambition and it’s hard to see how we get back among the big boys right now. Pretty worrying times.

Finally, we’re assuming all of these reasons for deals not working. Only the club and conte really knows what’s going on. Could all be back on again by tomorrow!

posted on 5/6/21

I think someone did say it yesterday, Conte has exposed Levy for an unambitious man and the club and players for being bang average
Levy is pocketing all the money and letting the club to rot.

My one and only comment from nine years ago stating we were after Conti. Seems some things never change and Levy is one of them.

That story was straight from the horses mouth.

In his defence it did look like we were looseneing purse strings after the stadium was finished but then covid hit which was just our luck. He just doesn't want to take risks.
