This entire thread has been utterly ridiculous
It's a futile act of ritualistic tokenism and whilst there will no doubt be anti-BLM people booing, I'd imagine most people are bored of seeing powerful people pretending to do something when they could do something that actually makes a difference.

Completely missing the point and ignoring most of the post to flip it around and concentrate on one detail, that is irrelevant.

Some people don't want politics in football. It's as simple as that. Fans have got a right to show it if they feel they need to.

Yes, if fans feel they need to then they have the right to show they are against anti-racism.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
And there’s the crux of it.
The key question then is what’s the most political act? A faction of people using the Black Lives Matter movement to try and advance their own political ideologies (but not actually setting up a party) or people that think the entire movement should be denounced because of the views of that faction within it and assuming that’s shared by everyone?
I’ll ask again, would you have protested against the civil rights movement?

Because taking the knee is linked to BLM. BLM clearly are a political organisation who have some pretty far left goals such as ending capitalism, ending the nuclear family, defunding the police, its all on the websites both in the UK and US. The founders of BLM are self avowed "trained marxists" so yeah, not something anyone should be supporting.
Ask yourself this. If the booing was racist why did the same fans always clap for the Kick it Out pre-game announcement - which is clearly a charity and not a political movement?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nonsense, taking the knee was out long before BLM was formed. It is purely a gesture aimed at the racists. Racists are hiding behind the political nonsense.
If I was the players, as soon as the slightest hint of booing started, I would just walk off.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why do people choose to ignore the political aspect to taking the knee? It just seems to be another reason to hit people over the head with the racist bollocks.
We only started taking the knee after what happened in the States. BLM are officially recognised as a political party. Most of their policies are disgraceful, unless you are of a certain political persuasion you wouldn't agree with them. Sky Sports and the Premier League decided to use a logo of a political party and still do.
It's nothing to do with racism. People just don't want to be preached to and talked down to after spending an arm and a leg to watch the footy.
That's my view.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Can you post some of their official policies that are disgraceful?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There an extreme political party.
Setting out to disrupt the Western prescribed nuclear family unit for a start. What a most of us want in life. A wife and kids. I don't think many would want to be associated with that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Who has "officially" recognised BLM as a political party?
Where are they running candidates?
Just trying to keep informed.

I imagine people have different reasons for booing or not generally supporting the gesture
- a portion are likely racist
- some perceive it is a radical political gesture and assocuate it with the BLM protests of last summer and the initial response to George Floyd
- some think footballers should not lecture fans and sports and politics don't mix
- others are probably trolls loving the reaction
Sympathy with the middle two reasons listed, even if I personally wouldnt boo
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I struggle to have sympathy with points two and three to be honest. Anyone that takes it upon themselves to interpret the actions of someone else as a political gesture (even when the people doing it have said it isn’t) and then subsequently gets offended by it may as well just be calling themselves a tw@t in the mirror.

When was the last time Kick it Out actually did anything? If it wasn't for adverts at the start of Football Manager I wouldn't be aware they still existed
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They’re terribly funded. You’d think an issue so important and relevant in these times that there is more clubs/players could do to change that
What makes me laugh is the whole "its got nothing to do with the politics of the BLM movement" argument. Why call it that then?
The powers that be at the Prem should get it knocked on the head for next season. Looking at how loud the boos have been with a few thousand people in the stadium imagine what a 50/60k crowd will sound like.
Southgates patronising comments don't help either. The players have the right to take a knee and the paying public have the right to show their disapproval.

Anyone who actively boos needs a serious long hard look at themselves.
Think just for one moment of being a third party standing watching both.
They would see a black player kneel and a white racist abusing him.
If you feel "lectured at" or you disagree with the politics of blm on some level in the usa to the extent you are so offended you will act like a racist then you are some snowflake (imo)
My advice is just do nothing to those of a political bent. Just be silent.
I will be applauding personally as it's not about the rich millionaire 1% taking a knee it's the 1000s and 1000s of kids they represent who deserve to know it's good and right to stand up and be proud and equal and ot let the knockers win.

Why call it what? It's called taking the knee

Look at the logo next the score on Sky, it doesn't say taking the knee.

What you on about?
I responded to the comment by Coleman’s about a white player not deciding to take a knee. Then you got all excited.

“ We all know the answer to that, let’s see how he squirms out of this question…”
Sorry to disappoint. I know you thought it was a gotcha moment but you got all excited for nothing in the end

Actually when a grown man resorts to using emojis that’s a sign they’ve backed themselves into a corner…

Rights go nothing to do with it. You look a red neck racist doing it and I dont care who that offends by saying it.
After all "it's my right"

What does sky have to do with the players? People aren't booing sky because if they are at the match they cannot see the sky logo.
