The Scots created the better chances. Pleased the ref ignored Stirling's attempt to win a penalty. That would normally be given in the Premier league which was why he looked so confused when it wasn't.

Looking forward to the new season there is great opportunity for Messrs Ibe, Duncan and Stretton. Undoubtably Ibe has all the ingredients to make a big impact if he can get himself together. Similarly Stretton, showed in part last season that he 'could' make a breakthrough. Finally I note that the DET have done a feature on Duncan who is apparently working in Spain to get himself fit for the new season. There are tweets below to support this. Oh how we could do with this talent breaking through....
From the DET : "Duncan is an option for Rooney next season and is working hard during the summer to prove his fitness and be ready for the new season.
He is in Malaga and has uploaded videos to social media of him being put through his paces. "

Unless some talent breaks through next season I can't see us not avoiding relegation. Would be interesting to see if Ibe has been similarly occupied in regaining fitness rather than attempting to imitate a barrage balloon.

Trying desperately hard not to make a snap judgement on Duncan, after all its only been a year.
I hope his extra effort in sunny Spain can help him gain the work rate of a Stretton or a Cresswell (Ex) and prove he is not another 'complex' character along the lines of Jack Marriott.

We do seem to being left in the dust, although it's probably through no choice of our own, I doubt we're able to even be competitive with frees.

The last time this happened was when a certain Wee Billy decided to go on holiday rather than prepare for our season however.

Having watched Duncan in the few games he's played for the stiffs he has not impressed me at all.
Whether he's carrying an injury i don't know, but he is i think, overweight

yeah, Duncan looks like a non-league player, part timer at best, still not sure why we signed him. We're not going to get a thing from Ibe either.

Chances are they're only still here because we can't afford to cancel their contracts.

I'm just looking at Sportsmole https://www.sportsmole.co.uk/football/fulham/transfer-talk/feature/championship-transfer-ins-and-outs-summer-2021_450154.html
This indicates transfer ins and outs of Championship clubs to date. Seems reasonably up to date - but probably not 100%. The point is though is that the transfer window opened what a couple of weeks ago (correct me if I'm wrong) ....but there's virtually no movement....only clubs shipping players out. Equally interesting - no money spent either....that's right none. Lots of transfer speculation...but virtually no actual.
Those transfers that have taken place are all 'freebies'.
You can have a look at the break down of individual clubs, but the fact are this :
Players in : 25
Players out : 129
So its clearly not just Derby (atm) tightening the purse strings.....

This was obviously going to happen. Clubs have been operating with next to zero income for 18 months and during that time they have been contractually obliged to pay the players' wages. Most clubs couldn't afford these even with their normal income.

Expect the teams relegated from the Premier league to dominate as the parachute payments give them an even greater advantage than in the past over the rest of the clubs.

The big question is how many of the 72 EFL teams will survive until the end of the season. I also expect to see the return of the part time professional footballer.

Essentially the football pyramid will echo the world in general, where those sitting at the top get even wealthier at the expense of all those below.

I'll be a big reset for everyone except those at the pinnacle.

Even the richest clubs will be suffering. Real are 900 million Euros in debt, Barcelona are similarly in debt, Inter sacked Conte after they won Serie A because Conte wanted more funds to strengthen the team. Only the clubs owned by middle Eastern feudal despots and financed with money stolen from their people will be immune from the coming financial tsunami.

Well View, our pre season games now include Manchester Utd. Can't think why they might want to play us in a friendly, obviously nothing to with Wayne. Wonder if they have any promising central defenders in need of first team experience?
