Rice tackles, hustles, picks the ball up and gives it to a grown up. Philips can't be in the same team if he plays it so slowly liek tonight. To be fair, you can pick either one but Philips looks like he might be more of a liability trying to play the hard man.
Add to that Kane just looked awful looks like his legs have gone, absolutely no mobility whatsoever. Tottenham should be looking to offload him while they can still get a good price.
He’s too dull. The only crumb of comfort is we can throw away the next game and finish 2nd for a better draw

Southgate won't put him in the middle, stuck him straight out wide because he'd never take off his lovechild Mount. A good player whose done nothing in 2 games. Still he's a trustee for Dull Boy so he'll never be dropped or moved our of position.
Southgate went to my school. My P.E teacher was England schoolboy manager (now at Charlton) and he said Southgate wasn't even the best player at my school.
Guy worked hard but was determined. I'm sure even he will realise England aren't balanced and need to attack more. International football is just nowhere near club level.

As someone who is not fond of west ham... Rice is a far better player.
Even as a Leeds supporter and big fan of Philips I can see that England's midfield is stifled by having him and Rice occupying the middle and would definitely advocate Philips making way for Grealish and just have one holding midfielder.
We are so turgid to watch with Southgates overly cautious approach and players like Foden Grealish Mount and Sancho need to be given free reign.
I won't hold my breath though as Southgate is the Theresa May of football management.
