Manchester United vs Norwich Match Thread

Trotter fan in peace. Thought Norwich put up a decent fight today but they were also helped by some lax finishing by United. However that said I doubt many Norwich fans will complain about the result although I bet some united fans will because Rooney was way below his best today and should have had a hat trick on his own. My youngest lad is a red devils fan and I watched the game with him and he said it;s the worst he's seen the united front line play all season.

I actually disagree a bit. I thought Norwich were strong in defence and didn't give united the sort of room we and arsenal did which is why they didn't concede until fairly late in the game. There's a difference in my opinion in a player playing badly and a player not being allowed to play his best. Rooney was actually quite effectively dealt with for most of the match. I feel sorry for the canaries because on another day they might even have grabbed a point but then again on another day they might just as easily have been tonked especially if Utd's front line fired on all cylinders.

All in all though I thought it was a pretty decent game and a fair result. All the best to Norwich, I rate Paul Lambert and think they play some good stuff but they've clearly learnt from Blackpool and know when it's time to shut up shop which the tangerines didn't.

Unfortunately the difference between a very good team(Man. U) and a fairly decent team(Norwich) is that the very good team knows how to win, knows how to take it's chances when they come along. Norwich actually could have upset Man. U today. United's defence is awful! But Norwich squandered a great chance to take the lead in the second half and another to tie up the game. Man.U responded to both mistakes with goals of their own. Norwich had better sharpen up around goal, maybe get a veteran knows how to put the ball in the net whenever the opportunities arise?

I'm glad Globaled distinguished between a very good team (Man. U.) and a fairly decent team (Norwich). It's always good to be patronised after all.

Yes we should look for this veteran maestro, because they're around every corner, and only ask for enough money to cover expenses.

Thing is, we have one of the youngest, if not THE youngest squad in the Premier who cost less than Rooney spent on his hairdo, and are learning fast, as of course they need to. We won't be rushing out to pander to any journeyman, but thanks for caring.

Thought they did ok today, and with the guy we have in charge will improve week by week.

Have to say though, a good and fair thread in the main.

ngcandy to be honest I personally rate Lambert very highly. Two back to back promotions with next to no money would look good on any manager's CV and if he can keep Norwich up then his resume will glow in the dark!

Seriously though, it's the little things that make the big difference and unfortunately Norwich found that out today the hard way. Yes you had some chances and probably should have gone ahead on a couple of occasions but when you miss against the likes of Man U it's very rare that you'll escape punishment for it. When we got battered five nil a couple of weeks ago we actually could have gone ahead in the second minute but we missed, three minutes later it was one nil and after that it was one way traffic. Your guys did well to hold them off as long as they did and maybe if you'd taken one of your earlier chances we'd all be congratulating you on the win rather than commiserating on your loss. But Paul Lambert is no fool and I for one am sure he'll put a bit of extra work into sharpening your finishing before the next match. In my opinion you WON'T go down and that isn't just because you beat us. I have a friend who's an avid canary and he thinks you have a better all round team than Blackpool did and that you're much better in defence which to be frank is probably where you most need to be strong in your first premiership season.

I honestly think you look far more solid at the back than a lot of commentators are saying and that as a result you'll get the results you need for survival this year and thus build a platform to push on next. All the best

Hernandez was rubbish as usual.

He also missed a one on one, the offside chance (he didn't know it was offside at the time).

Average at best.

are you seroius??? Yeah Little Pea is average dear me!

hernandez IS average Shevy, so average that we trotters will kindly do you a favour and take him off your hands along with that other average clodhopper, what's his name again? You know, the one with the hair? Oh yeah Wayne something isn't it? He's a bit slow and a bit bulky but not too bad and at Bolton we're always nice to our neighbours so we'll even pay you a couple of quid for them both

Of course, we're well stocked with Holland's Pies so that should keep the hairy one happy at least and I'm sure we could grab a few fajita's from Tesco to sort out the other one. Deal?

ncgandy,
A little hyper-sensitive aren't you? As a matter of fact, I like Norwich and the lovely lady that "owns?" them. A breath of fresh air to a somewhat boring Premier. Oh there I go again, being patronizing.
As far as "doing ok" against Man. U., YOU LOST THE GAME! And if you intend to stay and play with the "big boys", you can't afford to miss easy chances. Your team draw approx. 25,000 at every home game, go spend some of that on someone who knows how to put the ball in the net, especially when the goal is wide-open, and quit making excuses! Have a great season!

They did play very well, Chelsea also missed sitters at our place, sometimes it just isn't your day, hats off to Norwich.

Globaled, I assure you I stopped being sensitive, hyper or otherwise, many years ago. I simply disagreed with your over-reaction to our performance based on one game.

'SuperNintendo' made rather more sense.

I don't know if you mean my comment Shvy but in case you do I'll clarify. You have two strikers who aren't bad but they're not REALLY man utd material are they? I mean Rooney and Hernandez are basically journeymen, not all that good at finishing and really a bit too slow and clumsy for the red devils.

Now because Owen Coyle is such a nice man and because we trotters believe in being kind to our neighbours we will gallantly take thos liabilities off your hands and bring them to the Reebok for a pound each. Yes I know we're paying too much but we always were soft touches that way.

Or if you prefer we'll give you Paul Robinson and Zat Knight and we won't even ask you for any money in return. Our kindness knows no bounds does it?

I'm SURE Sir Alex will rip our arm off because we all know he doesn't REALLY want to keep those two does he?

And as I said in my original post we'll look after Wayne here because we carry a healthy supply of Holland's Pies for the lad to enjoy and for Javier we could easily nip down the road to Tesco and grab some Old El Paso's. You see how much we love our Stretford friends?

Shevy I'm not remotely jealous of the fact you have those clodhoppers.

Honest. I'm not!

Seriously, this was a joke in response to the eejit who rates Hernandez as average. The guy either needs a visit to specsavers so he can watch what's really happening when the match is on OR he needs to lie down on the couch and tell the nice doctor freud all about it.

But if you ever DID decide you don't rate them then of course you know where to look for someone to take them off your hands!

I know what you'll say. That if I think that's ever gonna happen I'm smoking something I shouldn't mention on this board. All the best anyway
