Fridge please do not entertain any notion of Sandy being ITK. Come on man!
I'm still hopeful that the delay isn't Euro based (because I don't want Martinez or Southgate) and hope the latest delay is more because of Paratici being put in place and ripping up the shortlist (not that this is much better tbh).
I've read quite a bit about their respective styles and it seems like Potter may well be the club management version of Southgate in that both are very focused on creating positive environments for modern players with an emphasis on man management.
I do think that Potter has a better tactical approach and is clearly a coach on the upswing and I'd like to see him at the club.

Potter or Ten Hag for me. Both of those fit the profile of the club and where it stands financially. They're square pegs in square holes.
The rumours at the moment seem to be Steven Gerrard though.
The Spurs media frenzy has been going on for some considerable time, and basically involves one negative article after another, on any and every topic they can muster up.
Can anyone tell me when someone, anyone, within the media last wrote anything remotely positive about Spurs ?
And can anyone tell me why, for example, the media have totally left Everton alone in their search for a manager. They, unlike Spurs don't even have an interim manager in place.
Again, when was the last time Arsenal got a negative article ? even though they are in a worse position than Spurs, with no European football next year at all.
Why do we think this is ?
For me, it seems to have started at the time we sacked Poch and employed Jose. Since then, the media have gone after both Levy and Jose with a passion, picking up on any old angle, and never in a positive way, even when we were top of the PL, these people were circulating.
In addition to their apparent fascination about the next Spurs manager, they have absolutely go over board regarding Kane.I appreciate if he did leave Spurs, it will be a big story at that time, but at this stage it appears to me to be a rumour originally started by Paul Merson ( for obvious agenda reason on his part ) and literally every journo had ridden this rumour ( which they have created ) to death. There has literally been 2/3 articles on Kane every day for as long as I can remember. I often wonder what people like Kane and Levy make of all the little sharks in their feeding frenzy.
To be honest the whole "get at Spurs" thing is a total mystery to me. They are not a very high profile club, do not win things, do not challenge the top clubs, and have only one, what I would call, high profile player.
To me it can only be their fascination with Jose, and, to an extent Levy. Coupled with whatever personal agenda the Editors and TV executive may have. These people all support someone, and the tribal nature of football, as we all know, got out of hand years ago.

Sandy, care to divulge where this info came from? I only ask as I'm pretty sure I've heard you criticise ITKs before. This makes you no better than them.
When you first mentioned this you said that he was approached way, way back and that they held back the announcement so as not to disrupt Belgian plans for the Euros. So you're suggesting that the Poch, Conte, Fonseca and Gattuso rumours (each were absolutely nailed on at one point or another) were nothing more than press fodder? Sorry but that makes zero sense. Every reputable source within the media, including Alisdair Gold, considered the club's mouthpiece, were calling it when these names were close. I just don't buy it. We look like a laughing stock so if there wasn't a shred of truth there, we'd have been on this to save face.
We'll get someone in and pretend they were always first choice as a PR exercise but that's just not true. That maybe or may not be Martinez but the fact that your so called contact tells you that it was RM all along, is a stretch of the imagination too far, even for this story.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I would sooner keep my source private mate. In general yes I am not that keen on ITK's, but this one is a lifelong friend, and I would trust with my life.
This is something that has been created by Levy's reputation in his transfer dealings, its got to the stage were every agent, player, manager whatever will have serious doubts about signing a contract with Spurs, it will be difficult to attract any decent manager

Are you kidding. They're reporting on us because we've flip-flopped a thousand times and almost appointed managers a thousand times and at the last minute, pulled the plug. That's why we're great fodder for the hacks. What, do you think they made it all up about Conte, Fonseca and Gattuso?

Can’t wait to see how this Sandy ITK plays out, it’s a win win for me. Either I get to see Sandy back pedalling and get ripped by all and sundry, or (and I think I prefer this option) Sandy is proven right and will get to lord it over loads of posters and may even become our full time ja606 Spurs ITK

Big call but so far he hasn't been proven wrong.
Maybe the new manager will start the same day as Paratici. Technically this would have made sense if explained by Levy.
I'm looking forward to the next Amazon doc.
I just want someone in charge for the 1st day of pre season training. It shouldn't be like this but it is what it is, which basically is a sad state of affairs.
While our manager situation is far from ideal the furore over the situation is OTT and the media are stoking this and preying on the gullibility of halfwits.
Everton lost their manager nearly 4 weeks ago. 1 week before the new pre-season they do not have a new one.
I have seen them linked with Nuno and Potter and Fonseca at various times but we don't get the whole "Manager X turns down Everton" reports on an almost daily basis.
Spurs are linked with manager X and within 24 hours there's a story about how he turned us down. Literally Gatusso was first raised as a possibility one early afternoon and by 7am the next morning Spurs had "done a U-turn" according to some outlets and then some idiots try and claim a hashtag victory about
how they made the Board change their mind.
People have to accept that Spurs will have their targets. The fact we have not appointed anyone yet tells you that we are waiting for a reason. We will have our preferences and also have our fall-backs, so we may have interviewed managers B C and D, but they may not be first choice manager A. If manager A does not come, we can move quickly on B, C or D.
In the mean time fools get sucked into the way the media portray what's happening.
I am not saying this will end well, that the appointment will be everything we've ever wanted but at least show some sort of discretion in processing what the media are reporting.

There is taking your time with appointing a manager and there is taking the pi55. We are coming up to 3 months now. Respectable journos like Ali Gold get fed information from the club. I would rather believe someone like him over theories which have no substance and too vague. According to reports we have approached or interviewed more than 4 managers.
Nagelsmann, Ten Hag, Poch, Conte, Fonseca, Gattuso, Nuno, Potter and who knows who else. That's 8 managers right there. So forget A,B,C and D. We are way past that

I have had to give briefings to journalists as part of my job, usually only on a local scale and it is remarkable how much of a story thay can make out of very very little information.
Like I say, we may have interviewed Nuno, and really we'd be foolish not to considering what he has achieved, his experience and his availability. But papers print that he's now the front runner, they even speculate on "Nuno tells Levy what his fiorst signing needs to be" blah blah blah Maybe 10% of the story is accurate the rest is just embellished because otherwsie it isnt really a story worth telling.
But some lap it up as gospel.
I could easily make up a story that PSG want to take DeChamps as their manager next season and have the nod from his advisors that this could happen, but no talks until after the Euros, which will see Pochettino get his wish and return to Spurs. All total made up BS but it has as much credence as many of the stories out there.

We are coming up to three months without a proper manager. If Levy has NOT spoken to a minimum of 8 or 10 managers he has not been a thorough process then really has it?
You would think after sacking Jose he drew up a list. Naglesmann was top. He went Bayern. Ten Haag was interviewed. Shortly after Ajax activated a clause. Same with Poch. Not sure why you are denial about the whole thing. Are you afraid of the truth that Levy has messed this up?
I struggle to see how the Euros plays a part in our search. We should not be looking at any manager who is still in the tournement. I don't see how any of them can indirectly affect our search either. Can you explain?
It's ok to criticise Levy. This is only a forum.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
The media are more believable than your theory of :
People have to accept that Spurs will have their targets. The fact we have not appointed anyone yet tells you that we are waiting for a reason.
------------------------‐------------------------------------------------
There is taking your time with appointing a manager and there is taking the pi55.
We are way past that
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Come on. Journos are paid to print stories.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fact is we have spoken to multiple managers. Agreed we don't know the ins and outs of every conversation but there have been talks with the 8 managers I have listed earlier and lets be honest there could be many more for all we know. Of course papers will milk the stories and if people lap it up as gospel that is their issue.
Are you happy it has taken this long so far to appoint someone knowing pre season is round the corner? The way this search has been conducted with Paratici and Levy is a complete shambles. In years gone by Levy sacked Jol during a match and had Ramos ready. The same with Poch and Mourinho.
All most fans want is an end to this saga because we have become even more of a laughing stock than usual.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This is half the problem....
"The Fact is....." is how you start your paragraph and the actual facts of the matter are that you do not know for sure who we have spoken to, and those we have spoken to whether it amounts to anything more than a sounding out, or an actual full blown interview.
Some view that we have become a laughing stock on the strength of the media portrayal of our manager hunt, much of it speculation and rumour. People need to rise above it.
If we come out the end of this with a poor choice then yes, the process will have been a joke as will we, but right now we are continuing to search, and that search will likely be hampered by the Euros, which may directly or indirectly affect our ability to approach certain targets.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agreed, I'm not sure why fans are so depressed about the manager search. Jobs and preseason doesn't start until July 1st.
Window closes end of August. Lots of time in footballing terms. I'm actually looking forward to a season without Jose.

I would sooner keep my source private mate. In general yes I am not that keen on ITK's, but this one is a lifelong friend, and I would trust with my life.

Are you kidding. They're reporting on us because we've flip-flopped a thousand times and almost appointed managers a thousand times and at the last minute, pulled the plug. That's why we're great fodder for the hacks. What, do you think they made it all up about Conte, Fonseca and Gattuso?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
The media are more believable than your theory of :

There is taking your time with appointing a manager and there is taking the pi55. We are coming up to 3 months now. Respectable journos like Ali Gold get fed information from the club. I would rather believe someone like him over theories which have no substance and too vague. According to reports we have approached or interviewed more than 4 managers.
Nagelsmann, Ten Hag, Poch, Conte, Fonseca, Gattuso, Nuno, Potter and who knows who else. That's 8 managers right there. So forget A,B,C and D. We are way past that

Instead of rising above it, why are you in denial that the whole process is a joke?
Forget the media. We had the youngest interim, call him what you like manager in Prem History. Fact. A total novice replace a world class manager.

Agreed, I'm not sure why fans are so depressed about the manager search. Jobs and preseason doesn't start until July 1st.
Window closes end of August. Lots of time in footballing terms. I'm actually looking forward to a season without Jose.
