Saka is probably the least likely of our attacking options to do that
------------------------------------------------------------------------
He's also one of the most likely to put one on a plate for Kane or Sterling too though..
----------------------------------------------------------------------
he really isnt though statistically

and that player has 4 assists in 32 premier league games, so why on earth is he more likely to assist than any other attacking option?

because i've seen him play all season and seen him put numerous chances on a plate for our team all season long, whether they finished them is another story.

Jeez. All that attacking talent in the squad and he plays 7 defensive players (if that team is accurate).
The worst thing to happen for us in terms of personnel was Sterling to score. Guaranteed he’ll start every game after that first goal, he’s done naf all else in the games so far. And Saka did ok but wasn’t incredible like everyone says - he made two or three good runs and that was about it!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think Sterling deserves more respect than he gets. Part of the trouble is that he's been around long enough that we've seen him plenty and have more rounded memory data on him, and know he isn't perfect, whereas with emerging players there's still the novelty and they tend to get idealised. If you think about it, the attacking players getting written off most are Kane, Rashford and Sterling - the most experienced ones - and the ones the fans are most desperate to see are Grealish, Foden and Sancho. In addition to that, Sterling is one of those players who is often better than he looks. His effectiveness can be greater than his entertainment value.
Ultra defensive inhouse Safegate played his favoured cloggers in the group stages, he'll never drop them against Mighty Germany. Only add more reinforcement to his favourite sideways/backwards passing cloggers.
This isn't Germany 2010-2014, yes they can still grab the important goal as history tells us but they can be easily whooped and have been.
Why can't we just play with courage and some b @ 1 1s for once? Especially with the attacking talent at our disposal.
If we don't beat Germany in 90 minutes we'll lose. The mentality isn't there.
England are winning tonight
But going out in the semi finals
1990 my dad was in hospital following spinal surgery and I watched the semi while visiting
2018 I was in hospital following spinal surgery and watched the semi while recovering
I'm having another spinal surgery on Monday... Semis are Tuesday and Wednesday... They're done for
Saka should have been LWB and Foden should have been on the left for more creativity and a player that can come inside centrally to make it a 3 (with Phillips and Rice behind) when we lose the ball in attacking areas to help be compact if Germany counter and we could have pushed Saka nice and high. Saka has played all down the left flank for Arsenal previously so has some understanding of the defensive responsibility as well.
We could have even played Sancho on the right and Sterling on the left for more raw pace inside to get at the heart of the Germany defence with Kane as well.
Potential opportunity missed.
If you're playing wingbacks wouldn't it make more sense yo play Chilwell and James as they have been training in that system for months?
Germany have a striker who just turned 22 and scored the winner in the CL final a few weeks ago. England have a striker approaching his 28th birthday who has never won anyone anything.
I did get the team correct, good luck! Would have played Sancho as he knows the German side well and they fear him.
WHat a joke if a selection. 6 defensive players. K dou t will be more flat 5 at the back.
It’s going to be a long night with that line up confirmed.
Why are our line ups getting leaked hours before each game?
Not a very good side, the creativity in the midfield is non existant. Germany are not very good, but I doubt that team will worry them.
Grealish had to start for me. This is almost raising the white flag up already. Hope i am.wrong
Portugal lined up against Germany's 3-4-3 with more creative/attacking talent on the pitch than Germany and got eviscerated, mainly because the German formation and use of wing backs kept creating 5 vs 4 overloads against the Portuguese defence. Just about every respectable tactical analyst has been suggesting England should match Germany with a 3-4-3 this week. We can quibble with the personnel, for instance making Walker the third CB and playing a more attacking wing back, and/or selecting Bellingham instead of Phillips, would have put a more attacking emphasis on the same formation. On the other hand, would you want a player like Saka who is pretty inexperienced defensively up against Kimmich (arguably Germany's finest player at the moment) or Gosens (probably MOTM vs Portugal)?
Come on England, let's show the naysayers we can play
Both teams happy to go to pens - ref might as well blow for them now.
So far Germany are cheating, not giving us a kick? Whose ball.is it ffs

If Harry is world class, I'm at Championship level. I wonder if Blackburn need an immobile dirty bar steward.
