"Especially if the Nuno appointment fails. Will he have to then put his hands up and finally step down?"

Erm.. that is exactly what people said with Jose being hired. Nothing will change - this is Spurs.

Parat chi chi and Nuno are the fall guys. Levy adopting war tactics in football and keeping human shields lol.

Imagine the vitriol towards Levy if he sells Harry Kane, not to mention if Nuno turns out worse than Mourinho.

The facking slaphead needs to keep our best players and add some quality to them, and give Nuno at least half a chance.

I think it's game over for Levy if Kane leaves

So I think that unless it's stupid, stupid money Kane will only go if Levy is taken out of the building in a box.

Interesting how Parat chi chi references Nuno's other systems at Porto and Valencia as referenced in Ali G's article from earlier. Good signs.

He'll be getting both barrels next season if the Villa game was anything to go by.

Don't think many will blame Nuno when we're shiiite. He's a nice bloke and decent manager. But we know he is very defensive and limited, this will most likely be the biggest job of his career.

Levy is the weasel who has destroyed the club over the last few years.

Levy should have gone with Jose. Sacking Poch and the disaster that followed is all down to levy. He should have gone.

I'd imagine Levy will be remembered far more fondly 20 years after he's left than he is thought of currently. By then we'll have had the benefit of a far higher revenue than we could otherwise hope for.

Training round will need updating again by then, but will be an upgrade rather than an overhaul.

As an on-field success, not much will change in people's minds, but overall success as a chairman, he'll be remembered relatively well I'd imagine

Decent manager but underwhelming considering we were led to believe we'd be going after an attacking manager. Maybe he will adapt his style a bit?

I'm not too disheartened, think I read the reason we got Doherty so cheap was because he was looking to change Wolves playing style away from defensive counter attack. Losing Jota and then Jiminez put paid to it, but it sounds more optimistic at least...

Didn’t you read Levy’s statement? He’s asked Nuno very nicely if he wouldn’t mind playing a bit of attacking football.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

In the same way he used to (from what we've read, doubt either of us were avid Valencia followers)

"
What will Spurs fans memories be of Mr Levy in 20yrs time?"

That depends upon whether there'll be a Tottenham Hotspur to remember by then!

Levy is Joe Lewis' dog's body. A stooge.
He is also an idiot who refuses to recognize market forces, and thinks he knows best.
Which he does not!
ENIC has made a god damned mess of a great football club.
THAT will be Daniel Levy's epitaph.

A very decent appointment by Daniel Levy, and we should all give our full backing to Nuno.

Not really sure what some Spurs fans want.

Agree about Jiminez and Jota - for Wolves it’s like us losing Kane and Son - they got 27 and 16 goals in the 19/20 season, about 50% of their goals, so there was no way they’d perform as well without them.

Which makes me think if Nuno was hired after the 19/20 season, after a 2nd successive 7th place PL finish and a Championship title, would he be viewed more positively? His stock was certainly higher a year ago for sure.

Any comparisons I’ve seen with Jose are just lazy, really uninformed views. His sports science and fitness/recovery work is far greater, his interest in player development far higher. He may not be the most attacking coach, but pre-season starts now, he knows the PL inside out, he’s very well liked by players - I’d much rather Nuno now, than say Mason or Klinsmann, which a lot of people were saying they’d be willing to accept for a season (myself included re. Klinsmann), or even Gattuso or Fonseca, who have no PL pedigree - so in that respect this is a good hire.

Worth noting on those points that Nuno never watched our u23 side. He only really showed an interest in developing players already in the first team or young players brought in through Mendes (Neto, Silva, Jota, Neves etc).

On fitness and recovery, he always wanted to play with a small squad and would use few players. This led to him playing negative tactics which would see our players run less than pretty much every team in the league. First halves became a none event as he would just focus on holding shape and not conceding. This is the reason we had such a poor record for goals in the first half.

I think he was liked by the players, but last season they had several 'clear the air meetings' and it has come our that players were questioning his tactics and methods. After his first season too, new signings tend to spend 6 months on the bench and a few have got frustrated with him. He was also supposed to be very grumpy round the club and had to work really hard on the relationship he built with the fans and community here (as the fans did love him) as it went against his natural character.

He is very similar to Jose in being a safety first coach. I don't think it is surprising that there are so many similarities, given Nuno played under him for Porto when they won the Champions League. He is a good coach and did an excellent job with us (the most successful manager I have known). However, I think Levy (and this post above) actually have the most uninformed views as they propose the limitations he has shown as a head coach as his strengths. He is the type of manager who needs to be allowed to get on with it and work in his own way. If allowed that, he will be able to build something and do a good job. I doubt he will get that at Spurs and with all this talk about football DNA etc. I don't think the fans will give him very long to adapt.
