Tennis players prefer to swallow.
Why don't footballers get a wee sit down break, drinks, bananas every 5 minutes?

I get the craic, but I think its because of the explosive nature of tennis. So you sit down a minute between two games. In football everyone gets a stroll every now and then, they are not running around for the full 90 minutes.
This may sound like a backhanded compliment but footballers generally don't get things served to them on a plate their whole lives like tennis players do so don't have the same privileges. The baseline salary for a tennis player is far higher than for a young footballer making football a game to hate when they are kids and tennis a game to love. You may dedeuce from this that the net salary is higher for tennis players now but with a break down you can see that if you let service return to normal it sets you back a few years.

Tennis players should get paid a money salary instead, i mean there are only so many nets they can need.

I’ve never felt the urge to spit on the pitch to be honest, unless I have a bad cold.

Footballers are mostly bad mannered, pampered little 5hits.
Guardiola set the standard when it comes to spitting
He does it non stop during matches
Because they need to spit? I used to do it when I played not because I planned to but because I needed to spit so I did

Just swallow it
Spitting in general is vile, however I’ll happily admit I spit when playing football and even when going on a run, if I need to. Never aimed at anyone of course.
Sometimes you just feel it’s needs to be out rather than in when you’re running about
It’s a natural reaction when fluid builds up in the lungs.
Better out than in

Tim Henman was a renown spitter... only did it on grass though and that might be a major reason for the difference between sports.
Most of the tennis season is played on hard courts. Most of the upbringing of young tennis players is on hard courts... Spitting on hard courts is just effing nasty. So one reason could just be that tennis players have been conditioned not to spit cause there's nowhere to hide it?
Sergio spits in the hole
To be fair golfers get fined for it.
Once had the misfortune to find something altogether more solid in the cup at Barshaw Park - #2 hole appropriately. We all took a gimme!
Tennis is a stroll in the park compared to football. They get a 2 minute break every 5 minutes for a cold drink and a spot of lunch sometimes, under a sun parasol with the ball boys acting as waiters. Some tennis players gargle with their drink and spit it over their shoulder onto the court and in front of the TV cameras. Watch closer.
