All my mates saying: we’ve been done by dodgy decisions and dives for years.
Tainted for me.
Thought we deserved it though, just a shame we’ve had to resort to that sort of thing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yup England have been on the end of some shockers over the years, but it still does not mean that England have to cheat to win. I would sooner win fairly and squarly.
Thought the foul on Kane was a better shout for a penalty even thou I don't think it was.
Englands midfield needs to be sorted out for Italy
What happened to Grealish last night did he take a knock or something?
Whether you like it or not (and I don't like it), the dark arts of the game are here to stay, whether that's going down in the penalty box, trying to get an opponent sent off or blatant cheating (Maradona 86).
Sandy, I'd love to win fairly and squarely, but that hasn't been the case for half a century to my knowledge, when teams like my own Leeds United made some games more like a martial arts session.

Agree mate. I think the days are long gone when teams wanted to win in sporting endeavor alone won games. Now if you can get away with diving, feigning injury etc seems the norm.
The penalty was the exact kind of incident where we regularly see Varpool and Penited gifted penalty kicks in the PL, minimal contact followed by falling over or throwing themselves to the ground.
They should not be giving penalties to anybody under this kind of challenge and theatrics, but on this occasion it was refreshing to see England benefit from some poor refereeing, rather than a team from the Northwest that plays in a red shirt.

I remember watching Saint & Greavsie back in the 80's, they were discussing what were the hardest grounds to play at, Jimmy said Leeds at Elland Road, because they were kicking you in the players tunnel

I remember that 1970 Cup Final between Leeds and Chelsea, whilst the two games were some of the best cup final viewing ever, both games were brutal. Probably half the players would have been red carded today.
Slightly sours the occasion, that Sterling dived to win the penalty, tainted an otherwise decent performance.

I read a newspaper article on the 50th anniversary of the match last year. Michael Oliver reviewed the match and said he would have "dished out 11 red cards"
So if Kane scores on Sunday then he breaks the England goals at a tournament record and could share the golden boot - depending on who else scores. This is despite having a “terrible” tournament.
This after a season where he won the golden boot in the Prem and had the most assists. Yet people don’t think he is worth £150m+ in this market. I will enjoy watching him at Spurs again next season.

If we're going to review every piece of "cheating" or "professionalism", then this is going to be a very long discussion. It's part of the modern game, seeking to gain an advantage, players going down as though they have been shot, players trying to get an opponent yellow/red carded. It's not an English disease and please don't tell me that the Italians don't do anything like this. I'd say they are the masters at it.
