So he's the first player ever to receive social media abuse?

I’d love to see the “abuse” he received. It deffo couldn’t have been racial coz the media would have been all over it. I love Gini but he’s gone missing in games over his LFC career so if he’s crying about that then doesn’t say much about him
It's excuses.
If he was receiving the sort of abuse black players were getting he should have called it out.
I can then name henderson as a player who's gotten massive abuse.
I could then name players from every major sides in Europe who would be given abuse for not being whatever.
The reality is he decided at some point, perhaps as far back as before the barca game that he would run his contract down.
If he wanted 4 years and 200k like thiago or whatever then say it. Nobody would hold it against him. He gave his all last season imo. There's no issue with a guy doing that if he is honest about it.
However if you have a little whine about social media trolls as your excuse I think people think less of you.
It’s not just Liverpool fans who abuse players online. Ever club has it group of tools who do this. Then accounts set up just to troll(not fans of any club)
Glad he has called this abuse out.
Obviously driven by his agent. Nothing in it really, but of a non story.

not sure its quote for quote the same but it wasnt just the fan abuse on social media, its clear when he says i felt unloved from the people higher up he meant the owners. They didnt offer him what he wanted because of his age, be it money or length of contract. They stuck to their policy and he didnt like it, not sure why he spun it that way, oh i wanted more money and a longer contract but they didnt agree to it so they don't love me.

I think thats unfair, like to hear the other side of it. The fact they were even at the table showed they valued him. Fair play to them for sticking to their policy and not letting players and their agents get their own way like Pogba and De Gea etc at Utd.
hes on 311k a week essentially now before tax, up from 75k a week with us. So in the end he got what i expect him and his agent were looking for, just not from us.
i bet if our owners came out to defend themselves and revealed gini and his agents wage demand itd paint a completely different picture.
I wonder what percentage of online abuse from fans is fans of rival clubs masquerading. That would be an interesting statistic.

Yeah, it’s the same as the racial stuff. Whilst a lot of it will be from individuals, there is a suggestion that most of it originates from overseas, organised to sow discord in this country.

its correct, ever watched a black streamer or a trans on twitch? constantly flooded with bots spamming the N words but spelt knee or w.e.
I doubt he received that amount of abuse in the last 3 years he was excellent for us..
If he did receive it was obvious trolls and if he took that serious. hes got the issues not the club fans
He's just a cry baby,you're better off without !
It’s easy to dismiss this as all players get a level of abuse (sadly) and he’s probably courting overt appreciation from his new fans.
However, I do think there’s something in this. Some players are more readily blamed for poor results. I think Wij is one of those players. Firmino is becoming another.
Sure his performances weren’t always stellar but Klopp trusted him and the job he did for us.
firmino and gini were awful for long periods last time its no coincidence lol

Wij was very consistent and always available for us, so I’ve never had an issue with him. Firmino is not being made a scapegoat though, his performances have steadily declined for some time and some of his play was awful last season.
I do not understand how footballers expect to receive plaudits on social media but not criticism when they play poorly.
Not abuse, that's just wrong and shouldn't exist (although as long as social media exists it will continue). But criticism from Liverpool fans was certainly just when we were going through relegation form last season.

it doesnt look good on gini he'd have been better saying nothing. he got a massive pay rise in the end and a good send off. If hes tryna slag off the owners for not giving him 311k a week and the fans that criticise him on social media he can fack off Weak and lame excuses and seems like hes trying to spin it so he doesn't look a greedy twaat. But nobody would care if he just said the money wasn't right and i proved i could get a better contract and did.
he obviously doesnt have a strong constituion, he'd be in a mental health ward has he got what henderson used to get
Will always be a legend for that second half performance v Barca at Anfield.
I listen to the 5 live commentary of that match at the gym typically, he bossed the crap out of that Barca midfield
