Still behind City, Liverpool & Chelsea

They are all behind us until somebody gets 21. 😂

I think this is too simplistic in respect of who is behind who.

Liverpool suffered last season because of injuries, to several key players, all at once. It simply will not happen again that they will lose 4,5,6 home games on the bounce. Unless of course they suffer another series of injuries.

But then that could happen to any team.

Chelsea didn’t just win a cup. They won the champions league. And their record under Tuchel since he joined has stepped them up a level, not only to compete at the highest level, but win at the highest level.

City, simply by virtue of the fact that they are current champions are the team to beat as far as the league is concerned (at least).

So United finished 2nd last season. And runners up in a European second rate competition. United have won nothing yet under Ole and with the current set of players. Winning nothing but getting close doesn’t automatically result in a better season next time around.

If we take it on an objective level, United are behind City (prem winners), Liverpool (previous prem winners), Chelsea (CL winners).

Yes it could be a building block towards steady progress . But Over the last 9 years, United have been in this position before and not progressed any further.

You are behind the aforementioned teams because those teams have won the 1st rate competitons, whereas United haven’t won any of them in almost a decade.

I honestly think you lot are favourites with City for the title. On paper your team looks superb

Because you're the biggest club in the country and you will be truly assessed in the context of "can you win big trophies".

Yes you may have finished above Liverpool and Chelsea last season but they have proven they can gold their nerves and bring big trophies home, you guys (under Ole) have yet to prove that in the lesser comps let alone the big two.

I don't think you'll find many that agree with you.

The bookies certainly don't.

Liverpool's problem was their CBs being out forced their attacking fullbacks to rein it in a little bit. Attacking output decreased to compensate their defence.

My question for Liverpool is how much of a toll the Gegenpress have on their overall squad. Klopp's teams falter pretty badly from their peak. They're fortunate in that their key players were rested in the summer so this might be an overblown issue.

Liverpool should be better than they were last season.

Chelsea looked very good under Tuchel.

City are just brilliant.

Whilst Sancho and Varane would be great additions, a title challenge is unlikely.

By all means get your hopes up that you can finish at least 2nd again if not 1st.

Just don't be surprised if you don't.

Whatever you call your high intensity press. Thought you lot were still running that S()it parts of last year?

We lost the least amount of PL matches last season. Even City lost more. We need to turn some draws into wins. Are you honestly saying that's impossible given we have just signed two world class players?

You're just Ole out. Get behind the team and manager and let's see where we end up. This is the first time we have entered a season under Ole where I don't think we are miles away from City. We aren't anymore.

Think it's fair to say we will finish higher than Arsenal. Concentrate on staying in the top half maybe.

I said so earlier today. I think he's got to win something and be in with a good chance of winning the league with 3 to 4 games to go.

However if we come 2nd or 3rd and win nothing again they won't sack him anyway.

I didn't. But that's even worse then. What are Arsenal fans doing here? You'd be better placed in a relegation thread.

So did DiMatteo take them up a level to win at the highest level? Lamp and had them severely underperforming so Tuchels turnaround is slightly exaggerated given they looked clueless before. A few losses and Roman will be done with TT just like the rest.

Liverpool also absolutely bottled a title defense, a few injuries was not an excuse for that level of implosion in January. As things stand their squad as stagnated and not improved and everyone’s another year older so I don’t think you saying oh look what they did 2 years ago is as relevant when we’re talking about where the two sides are headed.

City are a league winning machine no doubt and United are clearly behind City.

The other 2 I disagree.

Why would an Arsenal fan be better placed in a relegation thread?

It doesn’t matter who anyone supports. They can all have an opinion (just as valid as the next person) in regards to a conversation regarding the chances of the top teams.

Your responses on this thread are bizarre. And come across as a tad insecure.
