Happy to explain the difference between the 2 statements for the simpler members of the group.
If we add Varane, then that squad SHOULD be capable of a title challenge.
I do not think we will genuinely challenge for the title this season because City, Liverpool and Chelsea have better managers.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
.....Bruno..VDB...Pogba
But this midfield... light on defensive quality, surely? All three of those like to get forward. Who's tackling and shielding the defence?
It’s become pretty apparent to me that in the last 12 hours, our rival fans are now very nervous for next year.
I will assess our title rivals in an article soon as the transfer window has a few weeks to run, though I must say I don’t see City or Liverpool doing anything major.
Culer, you haven included one of our other new signings in the line up. Paul McShane. The PL is definitely coming to OT now.
Rashford book review first, please
I don’t like the Lampard / Ole comparison. Ole is a much better manager than Lamps.
Wouldn’t be shocked to see two or three English teams in the CL semis again this season. PSG, Atleti and Bayern are the only sides who might prevent all English semis in my opinion.

VDB is an all rounder and can do both sides of the game, and brunonqorks very hard at closing.

From what I know of this signing, Paul will be very much working in a coaching capacity too with the odd game here and there. To be fair, he wasn't ever actually that bad of a defender but I don't expect he'll play much anyway.
Does that team win it? Not for me no. Your team is getting better, but still lacking in a few areas yet and I don't think you have the depth that City have or the all-around quality that Liverpool have.

City haven't even signed anyone and could well be in freefall after their UCL defeat
Liverpool have an ageing team and their only signing is a crock.
We are better than Liverpool now.
The window is not done yet and they could easily end up with one of Kane or Grealish (or both) and besides, they still have a stronger team and squad than United.
I don't really understand this "ageing team" argument. Most players are in their prime of their careers, some are early 30's or late 20's but people think it's a shoe-in that once a player hits 30 it's just a downward spiral from there which just isn't the case. It's not ageing team, it's a squad comprised of players who are well in their prime, or coming to the back end of potentially, with some good younger talent as well as a mix.
That United team is not better than Liverpool's. Within the strongest XI's, the only players I would have from that United side as of right now would be Varane (who you don't have yet), Bruno and maybe Cavani.

Genuine question but what do you know that the bookies don't?
Are we competing for the pre-season trophy here?
No team managed by Ole in the premier league is breaking 85 points.
So no, we wont win it.
Realistically we're looking at 3rd or 4th barring major injuries to other teams.

dont give a flying feck how many points United get next season. But I do care that that we finish strongly next May competing in the top 2 positions in the PL and maybe even looking forwards to a Cup final.

City can't afford Kane or Grealish. In fact to be honest I don't think Kane would suit them as he isn't mobile enough and Grealish isn't good enough. I'd love it if they signed them because it would disrupt them further.
We are better than Liverpool.
Well even if they can't, refer to my last sentence, they still have a better starting side and squad than what you have.
No, United are not better than Liverpool. As I said, there are only 3 players there I'd rather have and Cavani is slightly dubious as well.

We have a better XI than City now. Liverpool too. Varane and Sancho walk into any team in the league. As do:
Bruno
Pogba
Cavani
Rashford
Shaw
