Kane’s legacy

Kane has never been a Spurs legend to me Don. Not in the same league as players like Blanchflower, Smith, Greaves, Jones, White, Mackay, Hoddle, Ossie, Gilzean etc.

He is just a modern player that is obviously only interested in personal glory and earning as much as he can.

Yes he has scored lots of goals, but bottom line his his goals mean absolutely nothing, as not one of them as actually resulted in Spurs winning anything.

Hardest one of my lifetime to take

Sol before that

As they are products of our youth academy

Bale was never a keeper once he exploded ! Out grew us quickly !

For me if Harry Kane engineers a move like this then the legacy is ruined

If he had been patient and waited im sure City will match what levy wants in the end (or they obviously don’t want him bad enough) and he would have gone with the blessing of the majority of fans

You were lucky to see proper legends Sandy

I saw hoddle play once….I was in nappies !

All depends how quickly the situation can be resolved. If he doesn't turn up for the foreseeable then the atmosphere will start to turn. We can't have this dragging on for weeks into the season. It needs to be sorted now. Kane needs to get himself into the club this morning otherwise it will go south very quickly.

Could you expand on this please Sandy?

I'm disappointed with how he has handled it. He should have handed in a transfer request, but still come on training.

I'll still remember him as the best spurs player I've seen and wish him all the best in future. Hopefully one day he'll come back.

All the best players I've seen have left in acrimonious circumstances. Berbatov, Modric, Bale. I still remember them fondly and am glad they all got the success they deserved at top clubs. We are not a top club and because of that our best players will generally want to go to one when they are at the peak of their careers.

He's the best spurs player of the last 50 years

Absolutely a legend

Can you imagine the amount of shat his gonna get if he carries on the strop and ends up at City before the first game?

There's probably been many players that love Spurs to the core that fans have wanted rid off because he's not good enough.

In football the most loyal party is whoever needs the other the most. Furthermore Kane has shown a lot more loyalty than most would have given you've never matched his ambitions and criminally underpaid him (compared to what other players his level get).

Not sure you can call him who is only interested in earning as much as he can. He is 28 years old, has given Spurs plenty of time to show they want to match his ambition of winning trophies and it hasn't happened. He wants to win medals, and you can't blame him.

To be fair he’s had loads of opportunities to win trophies at Spurs and he is part of the same Spurs team that bottled countless finals and couldn’t win the league title when we had our best opportunity. I love Harry and he’s outstanding, but he’s never actually turned up for us in any major final.

Not really loads, but he is just one player.

When the squad is getting worse and his chances of winning are diminishing, why stick around?

He goes to City and joins a squad of elite players where he's got a fantastic chance of the Prem title and a realistic chance of CL success.

2 finals. And I am sure if Spurs were still pushing forwards, competing for leagues and the CL etc, he wouldn't want to leave. Ultimately though, you have had two seasons outside the top 4, your squad has gone backwards and you're on your third manager in 2 years.

Trust me I have been blaming Levy a lot for the demise of this club, but this isn’t the way to exit your boyhood club. Very disappointed with Harry and he’s extremely disrespectful. Just remember your own player Gerrard was on the verge of joining Chelsea and received countless death threats.

Surely people cant be blaming him for Spurs not achieving enough!..

There is as far as I know 11 players in a team, so blaming him has no say, he might be good enough but players around him that also want to win things ain't!..

It could be argued that Spurs don't want to let him go to a Premier Club, but if they want to match his ambition he'll go, and it'll leave lots off you's the way you are, but nobody knows exactly what's going on in the background, maybe he's doing things the way they should be done but your Board are playing hard ball, obvious the way things are going the Board can do/say what they want because they know people will blame him!..

It might be better if Spurs give him his wish, use money made for 2 or 3 new players, and try stopping him winning the trophies he's looking for!..

You never know, this could be a way for Spurs to try and claim the so called to 6 place that if there is such a thing seems to be leaving them!..

Hey ? When did I mention Harry Kane being blamed ? I am saying he is part of the team that have failed to achieve honours and trophies. He is part of that group that have failed to turn up in finals. He as in part of the team mate. Nobody is blaming Harry.

I guess my question is, if Kane does indeed leave in these current circumstances, would you still classify him as a Spurs legend ? Or would these antics completely ruin his legacy at the club?

----------

it would be forgotten eventually... look at how bale left.. v how we think of bale now... bale isnt a spurs legend in my opinion.. but kane done more for spurs than bale did

posted on 3/8/21

Sorry Don, maybe I should have said part off the team which you are correct, but I've seen over the last weeks him being blamed by a lot!..

He's only wanting what every player out there wants!..

Kane is without doubt already a Spurs legend IMO.

However, his legacy will be tainted if he continues to refuse to return to work.

He would have gone with my blessing if he had done things the right way, but refusing to return to the training ground is unacceptable for someone of his standing.

I really hope he comes to his senses and returns today.

BTW, that 6 year deal he signed just 3 years ago would pay him over £62 million over the length of the contract. I therefore find it hard to have any sympathy for him currently.

If he wants to terminate such a lucrative contract then at the very least he should allow the club to secure the best deal they can and not throw his dummy out.

Did he? Interestingly everyone who would actually know whether that happened has denied it was ever the case. I suppose he also slept with his wife's sister...for someone who is so keen on only believing people in "the know" about all things Spurs, you seem really keen to believe stories with no substance when it impacts other clubs/players.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Seen the way the fans reacted. Burning Steven Gerrard shirts. There were death threats from your own supporters. So before you start berating Spurs fans for feeling annoyed about Harry, think of your own mob with the Gerard situation.

He's playing a very dangerous game. I think he's underestimating the importance of a keeping your boyhood club sweet. He'll win a few medal at City as another cog in that team, nothing individually outstanding, just one of 24, 25 players doing their bit. He won't get statue at City and he certainly won't get one at Spurs (besides the fact he's not won anything with us). City will cast him aside in about 3-4 years. He'll be 32 and it's then and only then he'll realise that he maybe shouldn't have been a total dicccck as when the talent begins to wane, all you have is the love of the fans.

I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. I think he's being badly advised. An experienced agent would let him know what he's risking.

Not for me, Kane will have thrown his legend status at Spurs away if it all plays out like we all think it is. Club legends do not disrespect their club and fans by acting like he has, no matter how many goals he has scored.

The sad thing is,he has had his head turned and wants to trade immortality at his boyhood club for a few cheap, easy and hollow medals at a financially doped club where any success is virtually meaningless. That is a sad state of affairs and indicative of how uncompetitive and sorry football has become.

Kane could have gone on to be Spurs` greatest ever player, but he has tossed that away in exchange for a few cheap medals.
