What's the view of Arsenal fans on Maddison? Do you think he will sign?

He played last night v Villa Real and no sign he was playing to avoid injury. He looked well up for it. Could of course be trying to show case his talents to Arteta??

Tough call. Could go either way i think.

Can't see Arsenal signing Maddison. If I'm brutally honest, it's a step down for him. Plus I really can't see this club sanction £65m after spending £75m so far.

Typical summer.

1. Cheapo sub-£10m defender. Preferably Portuguese-speaking.... Done.

2. Yet another £20m-ish defensive-minded player.......Done

3. A puzzling £50m+ mega signing who no one else seemed to be interested in.......Done.

4. Only thing left now is the 30+year old free transfer with "established experience in the league".

Honestly, I can see both sides of the argument but ultimately if there's anything I trust our leadership team to do it's to make a mess of this move and somehow insult Leicester or Maddison in the process and end up paying over the odds for someone average on deadline day

Lautaro > Maddison.

I'll be shocked if we manage to sign Maddison.

Trying to remain optimistic but I don’t see who we realistically bring in. Maddison would take a grealish type offer for Leicester to even consider, do we have those funds πŸ€”. Inter won’t sell Martinez now Lukaku is off. Odegaard probs will stay at Madrid. 9 days til Brentford with it looking like we will start with a very similar team that finished last season ,smh!

It's been about 4-5 seasons since we began a vicious cycle of gutting and re-stocking the entire squad every summer.

This has led to us wasting the first 5 months of every season trying to get a bunch of strangers to work together. Before going on yet another blistering run between January and May once the squad has gelled properly. Only to break it all up again over the summer window.

I know this might be an unpopular opinion, but I actually don't mind us keeping the squad we had last season more or less intact. ......Call me crazy, but I'm curious to see if we can carry over our momentum from one season to the next.

Yep you’re crazy πŸ˜‚ imo, can’t even really say that we’ve really gutted the squad that much, as deadwood and fringe players like Kolasinac, amn, elnenny , Nelson , nketiah still remain. None of them are good enough to take us to the next level yet their is a very gd chance that the likes of elnenny could start as Partey is now injured. As for momentum, I wouldn’t read to much into it, pressure was off us and we always perform when it is off, everyone called it when we went out to Villarreal that we’d show up for the 4. This squad needs quality and fast.

Well, something has to change sooner or later.

How long can the clowns running the club keep flushing £100m down the drain every summer? Not to mention a roughly similar amount in wages and signing fees.

We’ll get desperate after a poor start to the season and pay whatever Leicester want for him.

This transfer will then give idiot Arsenal fans a renewed sense of optimism for the season, until he gets injured on his debut.

Completely agree with Gillespie road. Would rather sign nobody (although a new GK is 100% a must)

I'm still expecting a few more signings from us, Maddison/Odegaard or someone else, Ramsdale, rb and striker if we can get rid of Bellerin and Lacazette.. another CM is needed too but Xhaka is staying so that's not happening.
