Billy,
The problem with Spurs staying silent (when a simple explanation would have done the trick) is that the Spurs fans themselves are led a Merry dance.
Spurs’ interest should be first and foremost to their own fans. Spurs could have nipped this in the bud on Monday. They didn’t.

Something ain’t right here, but probably best if Kane stays at spurs.
He’ll be there or thereabouts top of the goals this season if he stays fit.
Plus it’s too late for spurs any kind of decent replacement, so y would they sell anyways.

The way this whole situation has been handled, reported on, and responded to, is just farcical. And the fault of that lies completely with Spurs.
From the player, to the club, and to the fans, you have all been a joke.

They don`t comment on non stories, when there is something to report they will report it, why waste time and effort rising to media agendas and shiete stirring. The club has too much class to stoop as low as some other clubs, who openly tap up other clubs players in public.
It is a tad odd.
Like some suggest, Kane's absence could have been easily explained if the plan was he returns tomorrow.
But he also clearly wants to go to City and they want him, so it seems that something is not right, even if it is not the case that he refused to train.
He clearly does not want to soil his reputation.
It was all being painted in the media as Levy reneging on an agreement and Kane going on strike.
It now appears that Kane is committed (although this does not preclude him wanting to leave) so any sale of him will look bad on Levy whereas before any sale was made to look like Levy almost had no choice.
Having said all of that, Kane does start his comment with the phrase "While I won’t go into the specifics of the situation...."
This at least implies something more than just business as usual.
There is a simple explanation. Spurs are signing Messi, Levy told Kane earlier today and Kanes now happy to stay. Simples
So you think this is a non-story?
You should have a word then with your fellow Spurs fans, who have been losing it this week.
And if it’s a non-story, and they don’t comment on non-stories, then they must be pretty annoyed at Kane committing on it today.
‘Darth Levy’ has been leaking stories to the press to turn the fans against Kane, making it easier to sell him.
So was he due back in training this week or not? All a bit confusing.
Kane’s put the Spurs fans in the mud for doubting him here
Levy must be loving it, any publicity is good publicity

Backtracking me thinks Luka but he’s clearly worried his legacy will be ruined. Good, let’s hope he stays and fights now.

Fights for what? We're a joke.
Whole thing just very spursy isn't it.....I'd wager the deal was always going to go through after the game vs city and had that fixture not been first probably would have already been done.
The funny thing is pep is talking about negotiating when city haven’t even put in a bid
Jokers, it’s obvious the game they are playing here

if you really want him just pay the money FFS
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Pay what money?
Me?
You’re all turning on him.
If it was always as planned that he would return to training at the end of week, then why has it taken to the end of the week to simply state that.
Spurs the club have been disrespectful to the fans.
The fans are turning on Kane, and in some cases against the owners.
The way this has gone, Spurs fans getting annoyed, Spurs themselves saying nothing, and Kane saying nothing until today, is nothing to do with any other club.
Own the shambles that it is. I actually feel for Spurs fans in this. They have been left in the dark, and that is simply not fair.
And for Spurs fans to try and pass the blame onto another club is playing right into the hands of those who are the ones who you should actually be blaming.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Have you concerned that it wasn't always the plan for him to return at the end of the week? You seem to have accepted this explanation just as quickly as the spurs fans that you're criticising for blindly believing that he was skipping training
The only issue I had with the speculation was the mad nonsense that Kane could somehow leave Spurs for less than £150m this summer. At that price it would absolutely never happen (take note Ted) this summer and I have been consistent on it.
I’m fairly certain he will go for about £100m next summer to one of the Manchester clubs
