Sounds like what’s happening is:
The club know Kane is going. It’s likely why he’s not training, and personally I believe his statement that he didn’t ‘refuse’ to but instead him and the club came to some sort of agreement to stay away as he’s not gonna be our player next year.
We’re trying to buy before we sell so prices don’t go up once clubs know how much we have (hence all the continued ‘Kane isn’t for sale’ rhetoric)
The club know pretty much what fee they’ll get
Sounds like we did bid for Martinez which backs it all up
It was Martinez’s decision not to go, but presumably we’ll have other targets (apparently paratici’s approach is to have several targets)
I’d expect that we bring in another striker, plus right back, in the next ten days. After that Kane will go.
Classic Spurs. Bid on an unrealistic target as a "show of ambition".
At least we tried, etc
Even more classic considering it's literally right after they sell Lukaku, when Lautaro is at his absolute least available

Obviously we’re only going on what’s reported which could all be rubbish, but it sounds like the club tried to buy him (as in submitted a bid) and the player himself didn’t want to come.
How is that the clubs fault or them not showing ambition?
He might have loads of reasons for not wanting to move country and clubs.
Lautaro Martinez’ agent Alejandro Camano: “Lautaro is happy at Inter and in Italy. His decision is to stay”, he told to @CLMerlo
Lautaro Martinez’ agent Alejandro Camano again: “He’s never gonna have a fight with Inter to leave the club. Never. Lautaro’s an Inter player and he’s happy in Italy”,

Well at least we tried. Even a rumour we made Messi an offer. Can't blame Levy . Frazier Campbell on loan it is.

Because ordinarily clubs find out if a player is interested before they make an offer. That's why you don't hear of many players publicly rejecting transfer offers.

Exactly
We're just getting our "we tried" business out the way. Let's see what happens on the last week of the transfer window.

Only when you turn up groovy.
Apparently Inter still owe us 12m for Eriksen, maybe a deal for Martinez can kill two birds with one stone for a skint Inter, some cash in the kitty and wipe out what they owe us.
I saw also that Inter still owe United for Lukaku so they're not getting a big chunk of that. They're obviously in dire straits.
Still can't see why Lautaro would join Spurs though, so this still smacks very much of "We showed ambition, totally"
I don’t think it works like that. These payment structures are arranged once the contracts are signed. We’re getting a sell on from a clause in the sale of Lukaku, but it doesn’t just mean they’ll pay us debts owed ahead of schedule because they sold him. Especially as they could have similar agreements with Chelsea over the payment structure.

Only thing I can think of is the link to GLC and Romero?!?!
Martinez has apparently told Inter he wants to join us
Such a quality player. A great replacement for Kane.

Probably sign another striker if Kane leaves, but at least we’re looking to bring in quality players.
