He doesn’t need to challenge himself in the PL as his record against English clubs is better than players who’ve played in the PL.
As you say in your OP, his motivation is the CL so he’s at a club where he gets to play alongside his mates and do just that. He’s got great respect for Poch and it’s a perfect deal for all parties. Paris is a great city and the ‘brand’ of PSG suits a guy who’s a legend.

I never said it had to be the PL or that he had anything to prove but him racking up stats in the French league is terribly boring.

Wow, good one!
From what I've heard all he ever did at Barcelona was play FIFA so I doubt he's gonna care about what Paris has to offer.
Up to him what he does but it is a little sad that arguably the greatest player is making this move. I wonder if his family will move with him to Paris or stay in Barcelona, I'm guessing he'll end up back there when he's retired rather than move to Argentina where he left at 13.

How many leagues are a challenge though? If he went to Bayern they’d walk the league as usual and if he went to Juventus they’d no doubt walk the league especially as Inter have disintegrated.
He’s not at Paris to bump up his stats in the league, he’s there because a) they can afford him and b) he wants the CL and they are among the favourites as they’ve come close the past two seasons.

But how great would it have been to go to a Dortmund or a Milan etc?
I can see why he’s gone to PSG but you can’t argue it’s not a very dull move for the neutral.
“ I can see why he’s gone to PSG but you can’t argue it’s not a very dull move for the neutral.”
Was the same said of Ronaldo after his move to Juventus who’d just won the league how many times on the trot?
The only thing that would make this story really interesting for me (purely for the psychodrama aspect) would be if Real did scrape together a deal for Mbappe and they brought in Ronaldo to replace him.
It would be like when Heat was released and you could finally watch a scene where Pacino and De Niro acted together (and a lot of people were debating who 'won' the acting duel even though they were supposed to be complementing each other).
Strikes me that lots of English fans are upset that a 34 year old doesn't want to move to the Premier League, live in the miserable country that is England and get barrages of abuse at every game. Shocker.
The PL is not the be all and end all of European football.
A real shame he's gone there

I get what you’re saying but as a neutral I don’t think there is anything dull about seeing Neymar, Messi and Mbappe in the same team. In fact it would probably be more dull to see Messi playing alongside shiiiit players at Milan and seeing his legacy be tarnished.
It’s hardly been exciting seeing Ronaldo at Juventus as with football being a team game you really notice how a very good player can become just that and nothing more in an average side. In the CL we’ll probably see a better version of Messi than we’ve seen in ages surrounded by a side full of very good players.
PSG just need Ronaldo now for a full house. Come on, do it: I'd love to see a team with Messi, Ronaldo, Mbappe, Neymar, Ramos, Di Maria, Donarumma etc. in
Cut the guy slack. After what he's achieved he's entitled to choose a relatively easy ride for his remaining years.

milligan, cleese, everett. jones.
I doubt another CL is his main priority.
Moving to Paris allows him to stay in his comfort zone—a Spanish speaking contingent and the country boarders Spain.
Ronaldo to Juve is also very different. He cost about €100 million. He couldn’t have essentially picked and chosen his next destination.

Messis wages render that statement incorrect sadly
It is a disgrace that PSG are able to buy him with their oil money instead of Man City or Chelsea buying him with their oil money.
I'd pick Sellers over Milligan.
Leo I love football and Barca so much Messi has gone to who can afford to pay him.
