Finding it really hard to get excited this year Sandy. Spurs for me haven’t sorted their mess out yet and I just can’t see us being any better than last year. Dier Sanchez and Aurier are still three of our back four. That’s all I need to know.
Doom and gloom for me.
I’m going to be interested to see out if us and Villa, who has dealt with the oil barons flirting better.

However, I have to say Levy, Paratici, Nuno, old uncle Tom Cobley and all, ....have not been very active.
The bigger clubs are far ahead of us....e.g., Grealish has gone to ..., Lukaku has gone to... etc etc.
Perhaps Levy will find the key to the lockbox in the final seconds and bring in another Aurier or Sanchez or Sossoko or...

Nah not for me Smeg, Spurs will easily finish in front of Villa. I think you may get a bit of a surprise this season mate. Spurs don`t need to do a lot to improve on last season, where they dropped 20 points from winning positions. That won`t happen again.
I know it is only pre season, but the team looked more of a unit, minus Kane, and I think they were all playing for each other, rather than just playing for Kane. Moura looked so much better, as did Bergwijn, and even Dele was getting into the goalscoring positions he was doing three or four seasons ago.
I may have to eat humble pie, but I expect Spurs to have a far better season, than most are predicting.
As with last season, and probably the season before I shall be going for a Spurs 2-0 win on Sunday. Man City without De Bruyne are only half the side.
I admire your optimism Sandy, I hope you’re right.
But I just don’t think you are
“ Spurs don`t need to do a lot to improve on last season, where they dropped 20 points from winning positions. That won`t happen again”.
It won’t happen again because we won’t get into the positions to throw leads away, especially if Kane goes and no one else is brought in.
We don’t need to do a lot to improve, but sure as hell a lot didn’t need to happen for things to be worse
Meh, it will be the same old shiete but a different depth.
We`ll win fack all and without Kane will be competing for 5th to 8th.

I always get behind Spurs mate, and I have seen a lot worse squads than the current one, even minus Kane. Two or three new faces will freshen it up as well, and maybe two or three of the old guard need to go. Toby and Lamela have gone, and the best of luck to both.

You may well be right Billy, but at least give it until the season has got underway. I think if Kane goes, then the rest of the squad will have a big burden taken off the, being called the Harry Kane team all the time, and they will knuckle down and become more of a unit.
Need to sort out the Kane thing quickly though, cannot have one player destabilising the club. I am not happy with him, but if he stays, then he needs to show Spurs fans he cares about the club. If he goes chasing cheap medals at a financially doped club, then I will be very vocal in my treatment of him, if and when he returns in a different shirt. And he will deserve it, the way he has messed the club about.

Let`s wait until the season starts before we actually say it is going to get worse. Going by pre season, I would say it is going to do anything but get worse. Yes I know it is only pre season, but you usually get an inkling of how things are going to pan out.
Nuno looks to be reshaping the team very well. Skipp and Tanganga both getting their chance. Moura and Bergwijn being given plenty of game time. New CB purchased, new winger purchased, new back up goalie (who looks very decent), so it is not all doom and gloom. And a possible £160 million in the coffers to purchase three or four new players.
I do not think any of us can predict what can happen at Spurs this season.
We have a new manager
Our transfers are far from over
We may or may not have Kane.
I find the attitude of some to be quite bemusing. Highlighting what a state we're in, that half the players are not good enough and need replacing, saying we need that painful rebuild, and then moaning that we'll just be competing for 5th to 8th.
What do people expect, a painful rebuild and to be pushing for the top positions? Change up half the outfield players and then just smash it?
What concerns me is that peoples expectations defy logic, there is a massive sense of doom and gloom (see comments above) and then these 2 factors feed in to the support of the team. It is not an environment to nurture progress.
If we lose to City, the Champions, the £1.8bn fantasy football team, expect Spurs to be booed off the pitch. There will not even be 90 minutes patience before fans start to vent anger their ire.
We need to accept we are in a difficult period, that we have the hardest of starts and that it will take a bit of time for Nuno et al to start to get us where we want to be.
At this stage in the season, it is not games vs the likes of City that will define how well we do overall. A result will help but we are a work in progress and the fans support and patience in these moments is more important than ever.

Absolutely correct. I shall not be moaning even if Spurs do lose on Sunday, that will not define the season. There is a rebuild in progress, so as long as I see some kind of progress, I will be happy.
But as I have already stated, I don`t think it will be as bad as lots are making it out to be. Spurs still have some decent players, in what to my mind is a very weak Prem, outside the top few clubs. Amuses me how lots think Leicester will do well again, they are being led by an ageing Vardy now, and Spurs comfortably beat them on their own patch last game of last season.

You appear to be forgetting, it isn't up to Spurs whether they purchase another striker, it's up to the selling clubs and the players themselves.
If teams like City, Chelsea & United are having difficulty getting in their main targets what makes you think Spurs (with no CL and a much lower wage structure) can just go and get a top notch striker?

Meh, it will be the same old shiete but a different depth.
We`ll win fack all and without Kane will be competing for 5th to 8th.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Even with Kane last and the fantastic season he had, you only competed for 5th - 8th and finished 7th. If Kane goes, not only do you lose the goals but the assists as well and with no Champions League getting the quality players in will be tough.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So Kane is the only goalscorer in the world now? If Kane goes, Spurs will purchase another striker. That is what club`s usually do.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No, they’ll spend £20m on a DM and their fans will boast about being a well run club

You really are living in a fantasy world Sandy.

It`s also not up to Man City if Kane goes either. So what`s your point? If Spurs don`t think they can get another striker, then Kane doesn`t go. Simple really. Spurs still hold all the aces re Kane.
