He’s followed a similar path to Tammy, Guehi, Tomori, Mount and James. Got the 30-50 minimum appearances at Championship level to set him up before going to clubs in a top 5 league. Also like say Tomori, even if he wasn’t necessarily a stand out player at youth level, it’s a testament to the strength of our academy that he is still appearing to be good enough for a top team in a top 5 league.
If we don’t buy a new midfielder he could be a quite significant squad option for us to cover both CB but also be our fourth midfielder/DM
Our academy is producing players who can play in various positions and roles. Look at James and Chalobah, they can play anywhere central or right - technically good and strong. I don't know whether he's going to be as good as James, that I doubt, but he could turn out to be a superb squad player. Prefer him to Zouma in defence - more mobile and technical. Let's face it, he won't play against United, City or Liverpool but in the games where we have possession, we need technical players at the back. As a minimum, a year in our first team squad will increase his value.
Amazing how seamlessly he's slotted in..was immense on Wed in the Supercup
