Newcastle 2-1 Liverpool
Salah (Son) - Neymar (Ronaldo)
Silva (Salah)
MOTM - Salah
A surprisingly close game here at Tyneside with Wolves nearly causing an upset and giving Newcastle a run for their money.
Newcastle
+Front 3 is world class.
+Defence is very solid.
+Porro is a decent back up but probably need someone playing at a higher level there.
-Tactics are good but need some individual instructions and player names to make them easier to understand.
-Llorente needs to be given more freedom. His best performances have been in attack last season and he seems wasted stuck so deep.
WOLVES
+Front 4 is world class. I like the interplay between the 3 of Insigne/Griezz/Neymar and they will create chances, no matter how good the Newcastle defence is.
+ Verratti and Busquets are a great little/large duo there. Very creative duo there that can put a shift in defensively, more so Verratti.
-Think a back 3 would have been better against Newcastle's attack. With Salah and Insigne playing as inside forwards think their movement would be too much for a player like Romagnoli to handle imo.
-Wijndal and Semedo tasked with forcing the Newcastle wingers down they wings but as Newcastle were playing inside forwards it looks like they matched up against the Newcastle wingbacks instead. Not a big negative but I would have had Verratti stick close to Salah/Son when they drifted infield just to pressurise them and to give them less space to create chances.
Leicester v Liverpool
Tough opener for new boys Liverpool, made some good signings over the summer, Leicester an impressive line up as per norm
Leicester
Class all round the pitch
A very nice balance to the team
Strong tactics as expected
The only very small fault I can find is up top, Lautaro is very good but imo needs more goals to his game, maybe now as the main striker he will find the net a bit more
Liverpool
Varane a top drawer signing
Good tactics
Powerful front 2
Kabak am not convinced
Midfield will be over run by a few teams
Leicester will have control over midfield imo which leads to more chances, think they will nullify the wingbacks to stop that threat quite easily
Leicester 3 - 1 Liverpool
Sterling(Mount), 13, Marquinhos(Sterling), 25, Lautaro(Bruno)56
Icardi(Neto) 33
MOTM - Sterling
