They way they’ve acted this summer, in the middle of an economic crisis is nothing short of grotesque
-------------------------------------------
Cry me a fekin river.

United have spent more, Arsenal aren't far behind, Chelsea bought a player for nearly the same price as Grealish.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Arsenal? Are those caants still going?

City lose £126m in their latest financial reports. (not even last season when they lost a whole seasons match day revenue)

What crisis say Boris. Says it all about City and the delusional Boris.

We declined to take our CL money or the transfer fee for Leroy Sane from the 2019/20 season and carried the money forward to this year to give us a mega transfer kitty.

Basic accountancy tweek.

Spurs could be stuck with Kane for the next season and lose out on this mega offer as City now considering an alternative striker.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

LOL thanks for your concern about Spurs being stuck with one of the three top strikers in world football.

I like how people are trying to justify City's low bid saying Kane is nearing 30 when he has only just turned 28.

Grealish is 26 next month so in football terms that's just two seasons between them. Is he now nearing 30?

Yet Grealish has just only broken into international squad and has no European football experience. He has two years to become an influential player for City as apparently it's all downhill after that. Most probably will win a ton of medals in those 2 years but will he be influential or just a squad player? How much will he be worth in 2 years time? Would City accept £125m?

----------------------------------------------------------------------

100 per cent Grealish will be on the bench in all probability after Xmas. Total waste of £100 million.

It will be good for football if Levy sticks 2 fingers up and refuses to sell Kane to Sheik Mansour, it will be a slap in the face for player power and financial doping.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not true.
Clubs like City are actually more valuable to football as without them, grassroot football will suffer.

Take a look at the Grealish transfer for example:
Villa got £100m from City
Norwich got a slice of that - around £35m
Bournemouth grabbed £9m from Norwich etc.

That's how the money flows down the food chain.
If PL clubs are tightfisted like Spurs, grassroot football will probably die.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Clubs like City and Chelsea are a drain on football, pushing transfer fees and wages ever higher in their pursuit of seeing off all competition just because they have the most money. Average players like Grealish being sold for £100 million is a complete joke.

To answer the posters somewhat arrogant and childish spoilt brat question, Levy is both morally and legally within his rights to "play hardball" as you put it until he gets the figure he thinks Kane is worth. He is in the position of power in this situation. It's called "a contract"

He is frankly doing football in general, and Spurs in particular, a huge favour by not simply bending over and letting City just take what they want. Something they clearly seem to think is just normal for them these days.

City, along with PSG, Chelsea and Utd, are slowly but surely ruining football for everyone else, resulting in the "sports for the working man" as it used to be called, becoming totally unrecognisable.

Like everyone else, I have absolutely no interest in following football made up of around 4/5 clubs dominate everything simply because they have all the money.

And for the person on here who actually thinks City are doing grass roots football a favour. Seriously, you either do not possess an actual IQ, or you have become so wrapped up in your clubs ability to buy success, to either not see, or simply refuse to see, the damage to football that your ( and other ) clubs are doing. Frankly, that amounts to the same as saying "Virus, what virus"

So, well done Mr Levy, hold out all you like, because, apart from protecting Spurs interests, you are actually making one of the last stands against the money men who think they "own" all aspects of football, and can just tread on everyone along the way.

I agree about the clubs mentioned above. However football not being recognisable to the working man is a ship that sailed long before all bar United were taken over. How much are Spurs season tickets, or match day tickets? Are they cheap so you noble, and sometimes preachy, Spurs fans can afford to carry on going to watch the working mans game?

Says a fan of footballs' first PLC that has a cheese room at their stadium and has the 2nd most expensive season tickets in Europe.

Levy bends you lot over every season and you love it.

You do know we don’t actually have a cheese room don’t you?

I do agree however that spurs have been ripping fans off for years.

But that is a completely different argument to the fact City wouldn’t of won any of their titles without the huge financial advantage they have over every other club in the league

Not love it no, but willing to pay it by season ticket holders, as, although it might not be 'value', it is the going asking price.

Basically the same as Kane, it might not be a bargain, but it is the the going price. Levy has something you want, its either paid or not.

Hopefully today taught us we don't have to pay a ridiculous amount of money for a crock.

Norwich were poor, probably because you used your financial muscle to get Skipp off them.

Clubs like yours are ruining football with your bully-boy tactics.

Of course you heard it, some dipper on the BBC website put it there before.

Sorry but you can't just hand out tickets anymore, all clubs have a responsibility to have the names and addresses of all ticket holders these days.

I heard you were handing out free cheese last week.

City have never filled their ground in my lifetime, so not really a surprise. Decent support, but nowhere near as big supportwise as Spurs.

Listen, I don't disagree with this. Spurs, like virtually every other PL club are now "in it for the money" but, you must surely see that the few clubs who have risen to a further level, are now literally buying everything in the game. This is being achieved simply because these elite few are buying up all the talent, even if they don't need them. Just take a look at City's bench when they played us. At least 5/6 world class players who must be turning up each week knowing they only have a 15/20% chance of getting a game.

And in doing so, this is where the so much needed wage cap should apply. Since the day Utd came along with the first obcene wag offer in the 90's, football as we used to know it went to the wall. Why do you think Barca now find themselves 1.15 billion in debt ( and rising )

That does not come about without a strategy, which is usually to scoop every player up even if we don't have an immediate need for that player, but it stops a rival having them.

Now I do get "money talks" it always has done, no matter what the area, but it grinds on me when you get posters like this, who have no idea about City's finances , other than an expectation that they shake a wad at someone and get what they want. Does this poster even remember when City were in the third tier of football ? I'm guessing he has only seen the money men given his attitude to getting what he wants,. like a spoilt kid at Christmas.

posted on 22/8/21

1 year in the 3rd tier but 93 years in the top tier.

The OP should write a lengthy article on that terrible time even though it was 23 years ago, it's what defines a club.
