Herrera wasn’t actually that good. Yes he tried hard and moaned at referees but in reality we don’t miss him at all.
…..
He was one player we really did miss once he left. WTF do you watch.

How exactly did we miss him? He’s no better than McT or Fred if even as good.
He was better than McTominay. I think one of the things we’ve missed is his playing through the lines, particularly from the right hand side.
We obviously focus a lot of the ball down the left due to what that side can provide in the final third. But we aren’t as strong at progressing the ball down the right hand side as we were when we had Herrera, Valencia and, or, Young taking up positions on that right side of the pitch.
I strongly disagree that he was better than McTominay. It’s telling that in 5 years at United he never really nailed down a place.
On what basis? Herrera was a more influential player for us in midfield. He didn’t nail down a spot because he wasn’t that good, but neither is McTominay.
But even if I were to concede that he’s not as good as McTominay, we have missed his ball progression when he was deployed on that side of the pitch. That can’t really be denied, especially when things are made worse by having AWB there as well.
It’s annoying Fred’s more comfortable on the left, because if he could play on the other side it’d help us more than having McTominay there, especially as Maguire and Shaw are better at moving the ball through the lines than Lindelof and AWB.
He needs to actually do some bits in the brief opportunities he gets. Plays it too safe. At some point this season, Pogba or Bruno will miss games. He’s needs to make sure he’s the natural choice ahead of McTominay or Matic.
I'm not sure he's very good is he?
Tadic tore it up at Ajax.

He’s a very good player, technically. He’s just very cautious because he lacks confidence. However, with a ball at his feet he’s very good. Hopefully Ole finds a way to build up his confidence.

He's pretty good in the right environment, unfortunately he doesn't and won't ever have that at United, not under current management anyway and with the players we have he's not going to get the chance to play much in the final third which is where he's most dangerous.
At Ajax there was a huge emphasis on positional rotation, spacial awareness and short sharp combination play. This is very different to how we play.
I think he's just a misfit in this United team.
Maybe, he does have some trekkers from the little I'veseen. Reminds me of Klaassen tbh and I didn't think he was very good either.

Herrera's signing was a cosmic joke.
Didn't need him, wasn't an EPL player.
Waste of a shirt and offered zilch to the team other than pointless, headless chicken impressions.
DvdB is a far more accomplished and suitable footballer. Problem is the midfield is currently over loaded with real choices, but if rashford has had so many wasted opportunities to prove how ordinary he is, then DvdB should at least be offered the same.
VDB is the new Davy Klassen. Great for Ajax and that’s it.
I thought he would be better in other positions but he’s a very advanced midfielder. Our system doesn’t work with him yet.
Varane might enable us to go to one holding midfielder thus allowing Donny to stay further up.
But he hasn’t take any chance so far (even if we accept they’ve been short and minimal).
He’s back up to Bruno really as Kilburn said and you ain’t keeping Bruno out of the team…
I hope he kicks on a bit. I like neat Dutch players.
