Had forgotten about this one. Would like to see us progress but clearly the priority is next Sunday and Man U. Given the lack of depth that we have I think a mix yesterdays subs and kids and we'll lose 0-1.
U23s in action tonight at Reading. Playing at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.
Do dread the day when Molineux picks up a name like that but I guess it’s inevitable at some stage
According to the Daily Telegraph Tottenham are weighing up a possible £40m offer for Wolves winger Adam Traore with Spurs boss Nuno Espirito Santo keen to be reunited with the Spain international, who he managed for three years at Molineux.
Meanwhile, the Mirror reckon that manchester United will attempt to strike a deal for Wolves' Portuguese midfielder Ruben Neves, 24, for less than their £40m asking price.
It may sound dramatic but if we lost those two at this stage of the window I think our season would be over, and maybe even our stay in the Premier League.
I hope I'm being too pessimistic, or better still that neither leave.
From the players' points of view Traore might do well at Spurs, but Neves might regret a move to United (apart from the money that is).
Losing either would be pretty disastrous at this stage. Losing both would do more than ‘sound’ dramatic
What would make it a decent window would be to keep both and add an attacking, goal scoring midfielder of a similar quality to those two
Being linked with Keiffer Moore of Cardiff as a striker for £7m. Just would be cover for Raul I guess
More interesting is a link with Madueke of Psv. He is an attacking midfield player who scored 7 last season and 2 already this season. He is 19 but got a fair bit of experience. Available for around £30m and is English

According to Tansfer Markt Madueke is a right winger with a current market value of £16m. Sounds a bit overpriced at £30m
Popped SSN whilst having some lunch earlier, they reckon we'll be back in for Guedes if Traore moves to Tottenham.
Cant believe no one's mentioned the most famous meeting between the two sides in this competition, 1980, Needham, Shilton, oops, Gray, goal !
The days when the LC final was a Saturday 3pm kick off and you only got to see highlights the following day. Even the local radio didnt broadcast the whole thing live. And even though my Dad was working on a site in Waterloo road at the time he still couldnt get tickets, so I had to listen to Beacon 303 on my scratchy medium wave radio frustrated by interruptions for double glazing ads. Jumped up on my bed and smashed my head on the ceiling when we scored
That League Cup Final wasn’t as good a game as the one we won in 1974 against City but great result nevertheless. We were the underdogs in both games. Forest had won the League Cup in 1978 and 1979 and were European Champions in 1979 and 1980. But they couldn’t stop us beating them in the 1980 League Cup Final. Such a crazy winning goal with a poor ball forward by Peter Daniel headed past Shilton by Needham to give Gray an open goal right in front of the Wolves fans. Needham has got votes in Wolves player of the season ever since. Great memory

Well at long last I've discovered that at least something went right that day. It was shocking the way Forest didn't play that day, no movement was my memory of the game. All most as if Clough had turned into Chris Hughton for the day.

I was there
An absolute travesty of justice
Two other Wolves v Forest game come to mind. Early in the 2008/09 season we won 5-1 which was one of our best performances under McCarthy in a season where we went on to win the championship.
And a game in the late 60s which was Peter Knowles last game for us. We played well for a while and went 3-0 ahead. Then Knowles started showboating and then losing interest and it ended 3-3
Yes Kightly & Jarvis were on fire in the 2008 game, weren't all our goals in the first half though, or at least 4?
Another game a bit later I think which Wolves won 3-0, Forest had a player down, Dave Beasant tried to kick the ball out of play, a Wolves player kept it in and scored, absolute pandemonium in the dug outs, Forest had stopped playing, but I guess Wolves hadn’t, a bit of a keystone kops moment. 😁
Michael Branch wasn't it?
Can’t remember who it was, I just remember both benches having a complete melt down, hilarious. I can’t remember who our manager was, but tbf we’ve had quite few, and may not be too far away from another one.
Just read a bit more about that match in 2000, David Platt was our manager, there three red cards, all before half time, David Vaughan and David Prutton for Forest and Akinbiyi for Wolves, it was so heated the Police visited both dressing rooms at half time to calm things down. Second half was pretty tepid and finished 3-0, which was the score at half time. Tomorrow maybe a bit less dramatic, but who knows. Wolves usually manage to edge our games and probably will tomorrow, 2-1 Wolves (reserves).
we should probably all just be grateful tomorrows game likely will be tough to find.
I was there behind the goal in ‘80, like to think the roar of the crowd assisted in the defensive mix up
An unfamiliar looking u23 side for us tonight and they've been stuffed 3-0 at Reading. Bit of a nightmare for them too with this bit of mini fixture congestion.
The U23s lost tonight because the senior squad is so threadbare Bruno has had to grab all the best U23s to make up the numbers. Fosun's lack of investment is not only destroying all the hard work done by the senior squad for that previous 4 years, it is also destroying the progress of the development squad.
West Ham looking pretty impressive tonight albeit against 10 man Leicester, certainly no lack of cutting edge up front for them. They've pressed Leicester high up the pitch all night which partly led to the sending off, got the ball in the box early and have taken their chances. I hope our boys have been watching.
Rafa Mir put through in the 94 min tonight, hit the inside of the post and the rebound tucked away by a team mate for a 1-0 win
Young Wolves striker Austin Samuels set to join Aberdeen on loan
