Woodward and the Glazers

I did tell at the end of last season we needed rioting and stone pelting for the leeches to listen to us.
We still need a CM/DM for us to win anything this year

All they’ve done is play catch up after neglecting our club for years. No credit is due.

They shouldn’t even be finished yet. We still need a midfielder because with McFred starting, it’s like putting the engine of a Ford Fiesta inside a Ferrari.

I thought Woodward had basically finished his role negotiating transfers but from what I’ve read he was actually instrumental in getting Ronaldo after Ole told him to get him. Which I can totally imagine because Ronaldo is the ultimate Woodward purchase but credit to him if he really did help a lot in getting him.

They have always backed our managers. We have just spent poorly.

Haven’t Moyes, LVG and Jose all claimed they had targets that the club weren’t interested in pursuing? They’ve obviously backed mangers with money but I don’t think they’ve always agreed with who the managers have wanted. Tbf LVG’s list of targets was completely mental and never likely to happen but I think Moyes had some good looking ones like Kroos while Jose was clearly denied Maguire but slightly understandably.

Bringing in Ronaldo and not dealing with the midfield (if indeed we don’t bring in a midfielder) is classic Glazers though. Of course we’re all excited about Ronaldo but as perverse as it sounds, we didn’t really need him as much as we needed a Bissouma. We’ve heard briefings all throughout the window that we need to sell to buy but then go and get Ronaldo who seems more of a diiiiick waving contest than anything particularly useful and not quite how I imagine the way Ole is looking to reset the culture of the club going forward.

never had any issues with them

go and look at arsenal or barca if you want to see what a badly run club looks like

Utd have a lot of entitled fans moaning about debt which is nothing to be concerned about. Club has backed every manager. We spend obscenely.

From what I read Ole felt that Ronaldo moving to City just couldn’t happen because of how it would look and fans and players thinking city are bigger than us and can take a club legend. Also Mendes by the sounds of it used City a bit to get United’s attention which looks like it worked.

It’s frustrating that we’ve ignored CM but you know even if we are strapped for cash will will make exceptions and Ronaldo is clearly that. I think/hope Ronaldo will work but it isn’t straight forward but moments like these are what makes football special.

Yeah, I’m deffo just trying to see this from a fun perspective and it certainly is that. But the cynical side of me sees a guy who is a fading force (though still very effective) coming back to a club where he is adored and who will make everything on the pitch go through him to our frustration much like I imagine Portugal fans must feel these days. Ie, torn between loving a guy who has given them so many special memories and being annoyed his ego stands in the way of team ethic.

But later stage Holmes where he’s still got the goods but maybe something else that’ll end his career.

Let’s hope we can get enough blood into that diiiick or else it’s floppier than the Moyes season

A fading force who still outscored Lukaku overall and in the league last year. Fastest player to reach 100 goals for Juve and even at the Euros he's showing he can still go from defending a corner, to scoring a goal in like 12 seconds. He's not struggling physically.

This is an absolute no brainer, he brings so much more to the club than goals. Look at the player reactions, they are absolutely buzzing, the entire club has had a huge lift and will have someone demanding a level from those around him and we don't have enough of that. Adding Varane and Ronaldo is huge from an off the pitch perspective.

Plus, it's just fun. It's a signing no club in this league can make in terms of the story, drama etc. No other team in this league has a player who won 3 titles on the bounce with them and the Ballon D'or so I'm not surprised fans of other teams don't really get it. This is a uniquely Manchester United transferand story, and football shouldn't be without drama and emotion, this has it in abundance. We've almost broken the Internet.

Outstanding!? well on the surface, looks great for the headlines… but deep it, and scratch into that surface,
A player we should’ve got last year.
Varane, brilliant. And CR7, a luxury get. I love he’s back, but wasn’t the priority. A CDM is needed.
Get that, then I’ll say outstanding… for now I’ll say it’s been a good window.
