Definitely impressive, not sure I'd single out alonso to be fair, Liverpool applied a good deal of pressure. I'm not sure Chillwell would have done better but pre game I was thinking I'd like to see chalobah in there for Dave or James.
Alonso can't defend, simple as that. He always runs back into the penalty area when being run at - conceding space and ground. He took the ball out of Mendy's hands for the penalty. Going forward, he's left footed, has good delivery and can take set pieces. I reckon it's that ability with his left foot that makes him important to Tuchel.

Yeah, one of my mates said that about Alonso taking it out of Mendus hand, I'm wondering if there was a call from the keeper.
And don't get me wrong, Alonso can be brilliant but when the bubble truly bursts, you know it

There was one incident against Palace when Saha broke with their only decent chance, Alonso gave a token chance before slowing to a trot and basically giving up.
I personally think were much more defensively solid with Chilwell.

I think Chilwell will end up playing more games this season.

The memory of "the incident" and the teams' reaction to the injustice served to them will be more beneficial to the morale of the players than if nothing had happened and we went on to win the game.
