The Skysports reports says he tearing up his contract, taking a 70% pay cut and saving the club £20 million.

Very professional of him if true.

I pretty sure sure back payments happened in the deals bringing Willian and Cedric to the club.

The deals don’t make any sense.

Hope this is true, but need confirmation. That Kaveh Solhekol guy on Sky Sports is completely unreliable and relies on pure agent fed bs.

Having said that, the Cedric deal is even more mind boggling than the Willian one. A 4 year contract to a Southampton backup, especially after a 6 month loan where he rarely played?

Kia will be delighted his client is moving on again after only a year.

Obviously we aren’t going to get rid of many of them by the clause of the transfer window but that’s a hell of a liot of poor players to have in one squad. No wonder we are in a right state

In light of this recent display of character, it's only fair that we offer Willian a 3 year contract extension.

He was pretty good against Fulham last year as well.

I will keep Mari and Holding in that list as squad players. Next season a CB roll call of White, Gabriel, Saliba, Mari and Holding does not ring too bad.
With Xhaka, it just a case of stiffening the competition. Bring in Bissouma and drum it into his thick skull that he will be behind Partey, Bissouma and Sambi in the pecking order until he can show otherwise.

I doubt Xhaka would accept a squad member role though. He’d end up becoming just as problematic off the pitch as he is on it.

What’s wrong with Ramsdale? We should give him a chance. He’s hardly played and his debut for us was good. The rest I agree with (although I still feel Laca offers more overall during the game than Auba).

Tbh I think Arteta's tactics and demands are what killed Willian. If you watch him for Chelsea his best performances came when he ran at defenders wwith the ball. Ok, he was already in decline before joining us but still had something to offer. Once he joined us he stopped that and instead of taking players on I kept seeing him turn and play a backpass in the vvery situaations he looked his best for Chelsea. Thats Aretaball. I think he was told he had to pass to retain the ball rather than take players on. You'll see similar in Martinelli if you watch him now as well. He used to run at defenders and take them on, got droped by Arteta who kept saying he wasnt ready to play and then when he came back the only difference I could see was far more backpasses.

We need Arteta out and we need him oout now. Ideally along with Kronke, Edu and Xhaka.

Respect to Willian. Poor sod was signed 3-4 years too late, just like a lot of our players who fail. At least he isn't doing a Bogarde.
