I think you're focusing too much on RCB / LCB thing IMO. A CB is a CB, they should be able to play left and right side.

I agree with you...but our coach does not..especially as it seems he wants to play 3 at the back with players who can play in the center or wide. I would prefer specialized players in their positions. Give me 4 CBs, 2 LBs and 2 RBs to start the season.
"We have got a new RCB/RB in Tomiyasu. Why??? White is that player. Chambers and Holding play as a RCB. We sent Saliba out on loan. We have AMN and Cedric who play RB. We have waaaaay too many players in that position. Yes Bellerin is out, but we need Chambers and Holding out as well. We need a proper RB...not a CB who can play at RB."
Perhaps semantics but isn't White a CB who can also play RB and Tomiyasu an RB who can play CB? Meaning that in each case, they have an established primary role which differs between them.
Secondly, with the loss of Bellerin and the exile / impending sale of AMN, we'll be left with Chambers and Soares at RB. Without taking into account Tomiyasu's actual ability, we NEED another body in that position... one who could come in as a starter.
Not sure we made a good choice in this Japanese lad, but I'll reserve comments till I watch him play. Right now it's an uneasy feeling
-------------------------Leno
Tomiyasu-----Mari----White---Gabriel----Tierney
----------------Lakonga---Partey
Saka-----------------Aubameyang-----ESR/MO
Use that for the big games where White will move forward to form a midfield 3 if we get overrun in midfield.
Games against the so called easier oppositon, both Odegaard and ESR play and Mari drops to bench
So many things wrong with Arsenal its hard to know where to start but the line that made me chuckle……”sacrificing Pepe who deserves to start”…. It’s like saying Xaka shows good leadership quality !!!
Ffs people keep shohorning saka and ESR. Both don't score goals

Pepe finished the season on fire and overall had a good season despite being dropped for Willian every time he had a good game. He has better end product than ESR, Odegaard and Saka. So how can he not start??

This!!!
ESR reminds me of Nasri but needs to score goals. Saka for however great he is, still lacks a finishing touch. In times past, they would NOT be starting for us
Whether the new RB is any good or not, we had to get one and by sounds of it he will be deployed RB, and for the most part he seems like a decent player. So it’s good that was addressed.
CM is really needed now, but I don’t see that happening now Xhaka is staying. But we’ve only got 1 good CM who gets injured a lot, Xhaka is Xhaka, Elneny isn’t good enough, and while he’s looked promising I doubt Lokonga will make a significant impact this season given his age and experience. We’re very weak in that area as soon as partey is out, and even when he’s not, him with Xhaka isn’t exactly great. But We’ve left it too late to address this now
Roma not buying Xhaka has ruined our season. Mourinho trolling Arsenal again.
Look just because Tomiyasu is 6ft does not mean he is going to be used as a CB.
Its obvious what Arteta is trying to do, even though its doomed to fail in my opinion.
Tierney is going to provide the width on the left. So he is going to be the furthest forward. That leaves a gap behind him which teams will exploit. The crosses therefore will come in from the left and that means the RB has to be good in the air to head them away.
Its pretty simplistic stuff and why I think Arteta really is not going to last.
I can see another big clearout job coming with the next manager. Hopefully these signings won't cost the club like previous ones have
OP, you are blind to the truth. The truth is Arteta fought tooth and nail to keep Xhaka because he wasnts to start him in every match. It wont be Partey and Lokonga rotating, it will then playing second fiddle to Xhaka.
