Think Ole just really wants Rice unfortunately.

I got the impression Garner was a bit of a Robson.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I think that he is in some aspects, but he pings the ball about ala Carrick or Scholes. It is very difficult to find a DM that is both tenacious and who can pass the ball about in the way that Garner does. If he can learn Carrick's positional sense and awareness of when to tackle/intercept/pressure, then he could be an excellent DM. Which makes me think that maybe we are making do with what we have in that position for now.

I got caught the other day making Rice/curry puns on the football thread when I was supposed to be doing more productive things. Got a verbal warning.

Have 2 more strikes left. The disciplinary procedure is verbal warning, written warning, Dhansaked.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
tbf if you p!ss about on here when you should be working you deserve to be disciplined, it's instant korma

yep, my messing around is a real bhuna contention.

My boss caught me on JA last week. He went Jalfrezi.

Sorry 52 but I have seen nothing in Sancho that excites me. Yet.

I hope he proves me wrong.

I really don't understand how anybody who has a decent awareness of him can't be excited by him. Being excited doesn't even mean he'll smash it, so even if we put that to one side, I'd say he's overwhelmingly an exciting signing even just based on his profile, age and playing style. If a young, skillful, English winger who has consistently performed at an elite level in terms of outputs for more than 2 years isn't at the very least, exciting, then we may just have different definitions of the word or we may just get that feeling from different things.

I've tried not to sound like an ar$e here, apologies if it reads that way. I'm not trashing your opinion, I just don't really get the perspective. Could be that I'm just biased because I've followed him long before we were interested and I value players who can take people on and dribble past people as the most exciting thing in football. Some people love defending, I don't get excited about defending.

I read a post somewhere by a bvb fan on what to expect. Some of it good, some of it bad. But what did stand out in that post (whether true or not) was that he tended to disappear in big games, they mostly used his performances v bayern as a reference.

He was a wasted position the other day, but it would be far too early to write him off as another kagawa.

I think Sancho will impress in direct correlation with how well he integrates with other players. What has most impressed me about him at Dortmund is how he can link up in and around the box, relying on his trickery and ingenuity of course, but also on being on the same wavelength as his team-mates. There was a moment in the Wolves game where he did some nice work on the left and then played a quick pass to Greenwood, but as the ball left his foot Mason was just darting off in the other direction. Had they read each other correctly (which will surely improve with familiarity) it would have been recorded in some stat or other as a positive contribution. Actually in that instance, the pass Sancho played would have put Greenwood in a more dangerous attacking position than the one Greenwood anticipated.

I don’t have a decent awareness of him as I don’t watch Dortmund often and don’t base my opinions on you tube clips.

My opinion is solely on what I have seen of him.

Fair enough. I don't watch Dortmund as often as a Dortmund fan does but I watch them semi regularly to keep tabs on the likes of Sancho, Bellingham, Haaland and in the past others such as Reus etc, they are generally just a decent watch.

I'm excited because I've enjoyed watching him and his style of play is the sort I really like, but then Nani was one of my favourite players for similar reasons and I don't struggle to find people who will tell me I'm a moron as a result.

I tend to feel that I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to private lives and off field matters. Unless I'm particularly well informed on something specific, I don't tend to have much of an opinion and I'll be honest, I don't particularly seek to either. Too much bad and misleading information that unless I specifically dig in to something, I don't really give it particular attention.

I can see why you linked it to my recent posts about our other Portuguese winger. I'm going to try not to turn that into a vendetta.
