At Brighton he played well enough to get called up to the England squad. comes to Arsenal under Arteta and looks poor.
He was sheet hot for Leeds, albeit that was the championship mind. Looked the real deal and we offered 30 mil the very next season
Hopefully the people in charge of Arsenal continue being oblivious to the fact Arteta ruins basically every single one of your players.

The one you missed the beginning of clearly. "Decent," is not being outjumped by Pookey
I'm not writing him off yet just saying that his performance yesterday was more alike to someone we paid 15-20 mil for, not 50. As far as I'm concerned I wanna be seeing a damned sight more than "Decent" for that kind of money on a CB. Hence my feeling sorry for him, if that's anywhere near the best he can do then he's in big trouble with the fans soon.
This is the problem when you buy English. Horror show Mings cost Villa 25m a couple of years back, Chelsea were quoted 40m for Lewis Dunk last season - ridiculous prices for bang average players. Ben White needs to be played as a deeper or covering defender, or free in a three as he has no physical presence at all. Arsenal need proper strong, physical defenders who are good in the air. Arsenal's recruitment problems obvious for all to see.

He was solid throughout, his passing range was spot on,sounds like you were literally waiting for him to make a mistake so you can spout your negativity. Try being objective 👍

I genuinely wasn't that's just it, he's a non entity to me because I never noticed him at Leeds. Had no bias either way and just saw the price tag as the usual "10 mil extra at least because he's English." My sentiment comes from HIM standing out with errors early on that nearly cost goals. Particularly one indicident where a ball came in. He should have comfortably beating Pookey to it, instead Norwich narrowly missed scoring because he didn't even know where Pookey was...behind him.
Others have commented on his lack of physical presence and zero aerial ability, so all I can really say to you on that is there's now such thing as a "Solid" CB who has no aerial ability and lacks physical presence because you can't be the first without having the second and third.
A solid CB who can't jump and header for sh !t, come on man, really??
White looked better next to Gabriel rather than with Mati
He did an annoying dummy that almost led to a goal but apart from that he wasn't that bad
There are many different things that make a player a good defender. Being good in the air is one of them but not being absolutely brilliant in one department doesn't make you a bad player. At 50 million though we will see if he's good enough in the other areas of defending to see if he is value for money. He's got to have some time. Gabriel is good in the air and Tomyiasu seems like he should be good in the air so hopefully that will mean whatever defincies White has will be lessened.
Tbh a cb not being good in the air in the PL is usually a massive no no especially if you play for a team like Arsenal who are known for being weak and very poor in the air.

Same one as you except I didn't ignore errors which could have caused a goal had we not been lucky elsewhere nor the fact that he got out just at the far post by a midget he'd completely lost track of anyway. IMO if that few pathetic attempts at heading, I've seen from him are anything to go by then I don't care what else he can do his price ceiling is (or at least should be) no higher than 40 mil.
You don't pay 50 million for a player who can't be at least reliably competent in all basic fundamentals of his position. White is the equivalent of paying 70-80 mil for a striker who is so weak at shooting, he has to be in the 6 yd box to get it on target .
Have none of you thought about resale? We paid 50, nobody out there is going to be mug enough to pay even more than that for a CB who can't header. So we're LUMBERED now. 50 mil wasted on what'll become a long-term benchwarmer who cost the combined amount of the two players he warms the bench for because they can both head the feckin ball and he can't
Need to give White more time before we judge. I wasn't able to watch last weeks game but from what I read everywhere, he had a decent game and we looked more secure at the back with him
Honestly for me it's not the pricetag - it's the fact that we sent out Saliba for him to come in
